Re: [Goanet] Looks like Parrikar making me redundant..
Dear JC, The Hazaroids achieved what they wanted. Non-hazaroids like me too. I am reliving my sea-time joke about the 'SINDHI' [not necessarily the 'Sindhi' whose hands were vigorously shaken by the KATLIC Church of Goa thro' it's proxy at the swearing-in ceremony of MP] "WHAT WILL YOU DO IF YOU ENCOUTER A SINDHI AND A COBRA at once?" The overwhelming answer always was " KILL THE SINDHI FIRST AND THEN PLAY WITH THE COBRA AT YOUR LEISURE" Goa having killed the KANGRESS SINDHI now faces the defanged BJP COBRA. Defanged? Yes, defanged ' PWD et Transport Portfolio to cherished Sudin Davlikar. floriano wrote: "BTW I would want the CEO to pack off entirely the professional, organized begging-brigade which is multiplying like amoeba in AMCHEM BANGARACHEM GOEM" My dear Floriano, There are two methods (at least) of achieving the "bangaranchem goem" goal: (a) CEO does everything by diktat (b) Everybody plays a role. The "Everybody" includes two sets of folks (at least): (a) Activists who use their energy to advise Goans NOT to patronise those who mess up the place (b) Goans, who themselves, do NOT patronise those who mess up the place. I believe that IF Goans would stay away from those filthy pani-puri et al gaddos, the gaddewalle would not remain in Goa. (The same with all filthy and filthifying set-ups). The question is: Are the activists and Goans able and willing to do what it takes to achieve this goal? My hunch: I doubt it. As far as I see it (albeit from a distance), Goan "hacktivists" are content telling the CEO what he must do; some to settle outstanding scores jc ps: Talking about "hacktivists": No word yet - on the PWD portfolio - from the Hazaroids! --- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---
[Goanet] Looks like Parrikar making me redundant..
No sooner Yatin Parekh had taken over a Mayor of CCP, all the beggars in the city were rounded up. There were no beggars for at least over two months. Beggars were again seen around during the Panjim Church feast, christmas and thereafter. So we shall see how long this phenomena lasts> Hope it is not the case that Panjim is kept clean while other towns are left to stink and harassed by beggars. JC, I am not saying that I want to see things happening in Mapusa and not in Panjim. What I am saying is that 'the resolve' that you are talking about must be UNIVERSAL. Only the CEO can put the word out 'CLEAN' or else !! This is encouraging news. A round of thanks are due JoeGoaUk - during the PIL for Panjim, he was the only one who came forth and provided assistance via photographs. This was really the job of the CCP. Why does the CCP exist if not to maintain the all round health of the city and to enforce city laws? The CCP, however, was willfully doing the opposite, encouraging encroachment and collecting hafta. Panjim might have turned into a sewer for most of us, but it had become paradise, the promised land, for all the ghatis. While this is a positive development, the long term situation is still cause for concern. Note that it took a change in the Chief Executive of the state for this most basic of problems of the capital city to be addressed. What happens when he vacates office? Will the residents get together and use the present opportunity to put in place processes that outlast any one administration? We can only hope. There are still many other outstanding issues of Panjim that need redressal. Wilfred Coutinho and I have been fighting noise pollution from the cruise ships on the Mandovi. We'll see what happens on that front. r --- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---

And yet, it looked as though Yatinbhai was too busy eating 'dhokla' to be attending to his job. I cannot imagine what would have happened if Yatin was elected as MLA of Panjim instead of Mr. Manohar Parrikar. 2: In more than one way, the 2012 elections have caused 'good riddance' to garbage. 3: I know that Floriano is aware that Panjim is the 'honey' which attracts all the bees which arrive on whichever train that stops in the vicinity of that city. The 'scout' bees would then invite other bees to this "gratis squat et al area with a view" that JoeGoaUK has photographed and that Rajan Parrkar was crying hoarse about. Accordingly, it was a smart move, nay a VERY smart move, to crack the whip in Panjim. 4: Everything takes time and definitely needs a person with resolve at the helm. 5: While being watchful for excesses, Goans must applaud and encourage ANY good that is done. 6: Unless, we would like to cut our noses to spite our faces. jc --- Protect Goa's natural beauty Support Goa's first Tiger Reserve Sign the petition at: http://www.goanet.org/petition/petition.php ---
Re: [Goanet] Looks like Parrikar making me redundant..
What to tell you Joe-Utorda-baab. Even the garbage collection in the city of rot was on war footing this week. Sam-ke A-to-Z cleaning, supervisor and all. In all these years, one has never seen a Murm-gao Mooncipal garbage supervisor on a site. Tell me something, don't you miss the old ways, the days of corruption? Feel pangs of nostalgia; life is boring now. They will be back, trust me. Here a note, there a note, everywhere a note-note. Just like that. Crooked ways are hard to rid off, you see. And money makes the world go round. Hey Joe, Naturally, that is Panjim. And it happens to be his (Parrikar's) constituency which he has nursed for far too long. Nice to here all that is happening. BTW if you have any influence with him, please tell him to send some sweepers on the Mandovi Bridges. Digamber Kamat never saw the filth lying there for years. And if you can do something more, make him send a few dedicated and clean loving sweepers to Mapusa to sweep clean the area infront of the famous Mapusa Sub-Registrar's Office building at Morod. I bet this area does not know what broom is. :-) Cheers floriano goasuraj 9890470896 www.goasu-raj.org - Original Message - From: "JoeGoaUk" To: Cc: "Parrikar" Sent: Friday, March 16, 2012 8:02 PM Subject: [Goanet] Looks like Parrikar making me redundant..
