When I just started reading your letter in Goanet about Promoting Family
I thought you are saying about Parrikar's family who had just an another
addition in his family.
He was in Mumbai on assigned duty by Modi, when his daughter-in-law
delivered a child. It seems he had to rush to Goa after cutting short his
duty to see his grand child. Now,since he became a Grand Pa he has to
devote some time with his grand son and surely less in politics.
Just see the difference between both of us. When I was on official field
tour in Southern India for pipeline geological and geophysical surveys my
wife delivered a baby girl and I did not come home, after leaving my job
entrusted to me. My ex-Boss late Dr. H.N. Siddiquie and later as Director
of NIO said to me, Dias you did a good thing by completing your
assignment
He also told me when he had gone to mount Everest on Himalayan
geophysical expedition, he continued to work when his wife delivered a
baby boy and told us many times what will he do if he had to cut short
his tour, = his son cannot recognize him=. So all our NIO scientists are
been following his footsteps and doing sincere job , that should be the
spirit.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar swiftly on 4th March last year appointed
his relative Kurupati Dwarkanath Row to the very high constitutional post
as the Chairman of Goa Public Service Commission.
Now the Goa Public Service Commission has selected Manohar Parrikar?s
relative Mahesh Parrikar to the plumb Group B gazetted officer post as
Civil cum Sub Registrar.
There is no problem with relatives of Ministers aspiring for government
jobs but it has to be strictly on merit. Was there nobody with better
credentials than Kurupati Dwarkanath Row to occupy the very vital post as
Chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission? Is Mahesh Parrikar the most
outstanding candidate amongst the hundreds who applied for the post of
Civil cum Sub Registrar?
Manohar Parrikar had assured good governance but it is ?Acche din? only for
his coterie of family and friends. Leaders who live out on nepotism have
no chance to build a culture of trust. For the sake of Goa, Chief Minister
Manohar Parrikar needs to look beyond his Parivar.
