There is cautious optimism that the third time will be a charm and Blessed
Vaz will be canonized a saint soon. The Joseph Naik Vaz Institute
(Berkeley, California) has petitioned three Popes to canonize Blessed Vaz.
Pope Francis (Petition 2014) http://josephnaikvaz.org/petition_2014.html
Pope Benedict (Petition 2011) http://josephnaikvaz.org/petition_new.html
Pope John Paul II (Petition 2000) http://josephnaikvaz.org/petition.html
One woman who has led the cause for canonization over the last 35 years,
Filomena Saraswati Giese, Ph.d., now waits for Pope Francis to canonize
the first Goan saint. Her efforts (along with others over the years) and
her leadership of the Joseph Naik Vaz Institute may finally pay off. Only
two weeks to the major event she has organized in Rome (Sept 23) to
publicize the cause for canonization of Blessed Vaz.
Stay tuned ...
RESPONSE: Waiting in prayerful anticipation; Deo volente.
