[Goanet] The Caste Hangover.

2012-06-18 Thread Tony de Sa
Let us face it this caste business is an anachronism. Yet, it is surprising
that it exists as an under current in Goan thought even today. Recently on
Goanet, there was a poster who went on ad nauseam about the conspiracies
hatched by Bamons for Bamons against Shudras and conspiracies hatched
vice-versa. At the end it was confusing to even decide who came out on top.

There are people who see conspiracies of caste in every action in Goa much
like the spinster who imagines there is a man under her bed.

Can we in this twenty first century resolve to abhor and to treat caste as
an abomination cast upon us?

One of the things that keeps us Goans down is this divisive factor of
caste.

Let us strive for a united Goan community. I know it is a damned sight easy
to type this. But achieving it is going to be an uphill task.

Viva Goa and viva casteless Goemkar!
