Yes and No Yes because 'bottom' is wrong and 'bottle' is right. No because 'bottom' was used eroneously believing it was true, not because these flies do have blue bottoms. I stand corrected and I thank Gabe for that. It is indeed 'blue bottle fly' Cheers floriano goasuraj 9890470896 www.goasu-raj.org - Original Message - From: Gabe Menezes gabe.mene...@gmail.com To: Goa's premiere mailing list, estb. 1994! goanet@lists.goanet.org Sent: Saturday, May 14, 2011 1:04 PM Subject: Re: [Goanet] WHOM WILL YOU HANG, MR CHIEF MINISTER? COMMENTS: It is really painful to travel to Sanguem. I lived in Cuncolim but went to Sanguem for work. Many times, I reached 3 hours late. I had to rent a house to stay at Sanguem. My children are not happy with the school. My wife had to leave part-time job. My life is like hell. Many of my neighbours in Cuncolim and relatives in Chinchinim, Margao and Vasco are blamming me for settling at Sanguem. They really do not know about the traffic problem in Quepem-Curchorem-Sanvordem-Sanguem. Concerned people living in Panjim, Margao, Mapuca or Vasco must visit this area and do something. Police like Tony from Cuncolim are all aware but they have no say against our CM, who is the sole responsible. Only if he is dislodged this can stop. I thank Floriano-bab for visiting though very late. I know that political parties wake up only at the time of elections and make stunts like this. But atleast he did that. Others like GBA, who took upon them to save Goa, did nothing. I phoned Oscar/Shridhar/Bhatikar many times three years ago to come and see the problems. They avoided because they were close to mining company owners. Can others do what Floriano did? Ivo In response to: Nobert: It is even more surprising that the hole-and-sole of a Goan Political Party: Did not know where Caurem was, which is in news for last 6 months. Some part of Goa still looks like HEAVEN , thanks to Cheryl D'souza and ALL supporters whose blood group is definitely GOA+ (positive) for they love PARADISE( Nature- trees, fields, hills, mountains, seas) Its sad to read from Cheryl's life story that some spiritual leaders are teaming up with the GOA-ve (Negative)blood group team who has made Goa look like HELL by destroying nature to accommodate megaprojects, illegal mining, allowing foreigners(Russians et all) to buy land built restaurants where Goans are banned, etc... Our wishes, support, prayers for Cheryl D’Souza ALL supporters. Yesterday, I made it a point to visit Caurem along with Adv. Antonio Lobo, to shake hands with the agitating women ( including Cheryl D'Souza) of Aguada jail fame of the past and to congratulate them on their anti-mining stand. At Quepem, we were misdirected and in the bargain we landed up proceeding to Curchorem-Sanguen instead of Caurem. What we experienced has shocked us to our toes. Normal road traffic is not possible with hundreds of laden truck proceeding towards Sanguem and empty ones returning to the mines. Other vehicles must zoom in an out between the trucks whenever opportunity is available. This is not a traffic problem. This is a human rights problem. Ordinary life is paralysed totally and completely. POOR THEM. Being the core members of the GRA as well as of the GSRP, we feel that we must do something terrible to avert human tragedy in this area. Then we visited Maina in Caurem, the home to Cheryl D'Souza on a farm stead of 240 acres nesting between beautiful green hills after shaking hands with the motley group of women still on daily protests. Cheryl poured out her life story to us, about how friends have turned foes, how even spiritual leaders have turned their backs on this trio - the old and ailing mother ( who is also of Aguada face), the woman with guts of brass and her teenage school going girl who was forced to learn karate and judo as part of her survival lessons. Their only safety is their ferocious dogs. A tour of the farm was invigorating. Cheryls hubby died of fence electricution at the age of 35 something when they, according to her, had just paid off the loans on this farm. Tony's body is cremated on the grounds, she says, and that is my resolve not to sell this iron ore laden ( 60+ grade) estate which is in the eye of the Goa ministers, the Alemaos. They want me to sell, she says. This will only happen over my dead body, she shouts. A hot cup of tea to go with the life story was what made us both more patriotic than what we were. Cheryl is one hundered per cent GOAN and she is ferrociously defending her rights to live a quiet peaceful life of hard work and prosper. I don't want the multi crores that these punks are offering me. They will get this land only over my dead dead body, she says. Meantime, she showed us the vegetables she is growing besides the various fruits including heavily laden mango tree grafts. My only problem is the hordes of monkeys which are displaced from around the mining areas. She markets her produncts at a distant Varca on every day basis which includes mouth watering pickles. We have taken her offer to spend a week- end with her on this sprawling farm, the only place in God's heaven when the sorrounding is gone to dogs (including the very road she has to travel on daily basis) with indiscriminate mining going on. I have to change the tyres of my vehicles every 2 to 3 months, she says. The parting piece she tells us is that, 'IF I SELL, ALL 3 SIDES SURROUND MY ESTATE ARE GOING TO EXPLODE INTO IRREVERSIBLE MINING THAT WILL BE THE END OF GOA AND GOANS. Re: [Goanet] WHOM WILL YOU HANG, MR CHIEF MINISTER?
Dear Aires, FN's point of legal mining, which is over and bove ustainable pace is well take. Issue also exists of the Rs 50,000/month of each of the 3 lakh Goan families (OWNERS of mineral resources) which is being allowed to be hijacked by a handful families (LESSEES) by the government (CUSTODIAN/TRUSTEE of mineral resources) accoring to the Doctine of Public Trust. Let us now come to illegal aspects of mining. Agreed that Digu has the LION's SHARE in the RAPE OF GOA by MINING SHARKS, who have swallowed entire EAST GOA. This RAPE has become many times bigger, making the excesses of Babush 5 years ago look like mere MOLESTATIONs. Only difference is that many bites of BUILDER PIRANHAS were visible day-in-and-day-out to the people of WEST GOA. Having said that, Pigu also has his SHARE in the RAPE OF GOA. Parrikar had alleged (Herald 3rd Sep 2010) police-illegal mining nexus at Bicholim saying, “If the Bicholim PI continues there for another year, he will be the richest man. He will be richer than any drug pushers…I am making this statement with full knowledge”. After this rhetoric, which received many an accolades, he absconded on the issue. http://oheraldo.in/news/Local%20News/hellip-hints-at-police-illegal-mining-nexus/40569.html BJP also claimed, illegal iron ore export worth Rs 4,000 crore from Goa per year. http://www.indianexpress.com/news/BJP-may-demand-CBI-inquiry-into%20illegal-mining-in-Goa/683933 Compare this with mere Rs 1,000 crore illegal mining in Karnataka, which is 40 times bigger than Goa by area as well as population. Though the illegal mining in Karnataka is only a fourth of that in Goa, the Opposition in Karnataka held the Assembly to ransom making the CM to take stringent corrective actions. They produced films to make mining excesses public. They activated National press to highlight the goondaism. But BJP/Parrikar did nothing like that in Goa except to be in press saying this should be done and that should be done. Does this not point that he is waiting to do the same thing what Digu did if at all he comes to power? Does this also not indicate raising of illegal mining boggey only for blackmail, as is done by its associate Shivsena in Maharashtra? Compare this with the pains Subramaniam Swamy persistently pursued in the Courts to convict the guilty Raja in 2G Spectrum case. Parrikar did no such thing though he is more capable than Swamy.
