Cecil, If ever you get to play snooker against a Hindu, do not make the mistake I once did. While I was checking all angles before making a particularly excellent shot, my Gujarati opponent asked "if I was planning on getting married." His reference was that I had already circled the table three times and after the seventh circle, the circled becomes your bride. > Stupid marriage customs - that's it. Seven > lifetimes! Get real man - be reasonable. Even a > criminal 'life sentence' for something as grievous > as murder is just fourteen years under Indian > law. Why condemn someone for seven lifetimes just > because of bad judgment? On my first trip to Las Vegas, my parents witnessed a wedding where the groom had his appendix removed 26 hours before the wedding ceremony. The groom was wheeled into the chapel on a stretcher, made to stand up, and he then answered his "I do's" with a big smile. The new bride was ecstatic. The new husband was ecstatic too as he knew he always had the claim that the vows were made while "under the influence" of the narcotic pain killers. Secondly, since your post seems to cover every country except Canada, let me put in my 2,000,000,000 cents worth. Canada has a visa class called "conjugal partner." In short, one can sponsor a partner to Canada without the necessity of ever marrying him/her. This has got to be a boon for brides/grooms from India. One can arrive here and live with their conjugal partner for a long time before deciding if that partner is worthy. I would have gone on picking on more of your other observations but, fortunately, the boss beckons..... Mervyn D'thru Lobo __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
