Re: [Goanet] Olympic Games -- corrections
At the outset let me say that I do admit when I make mistakes and I try to correct them. Anything wrong with such a practice? As for Merwyn's point, my saying that South Africa has taken to hockey recently is in regard to India. India's has a glorious history in the Olympics compared to South Africa. Maybe, South Africa established its association and played the game a long time ago. It has recently come to the fore in international hockey Anyway, if I or anyone else has not provided correct information or wrong information and someone here has pointed it out, the matter is settled. Is it then expected that the person who committed an error or made a wild remark should ask for forgiveness? As for Roland's point, it is way off the mark. The remark was made in the context of the piece which said a small group of Toronto women showed poor self-esteem. Yes, it was my hasty reading and, hence, the words were wrongly placed.. I didn't DISTORT the facts. I didn't FAULT you for not introducing your wife to me but I said that if you had done maybe I would have some idea if she has high self-esteem or low self-esteem. So, there's no question of mixing women and gay. BTW, I have had one Goan who introduced me to his gay partner. As for Fred, he seems obviously peeved my point out the error in the heading to his opinion piece. The keyboard part, as Fred obviously observed, is a take-off on JC's this iPad does strange auto-corrections. How come Fred, you didn't reply to my post asking if it was really tail or tale'? Case closed? Eugene

Pardon any Typos. COMMENT: 1: I submit that there is a significant difference between making a mistake and participating in poor journalistic (or any other professional ) practice. It is possible that a good journalist would check the facts and both sides of a story (when possible) before making blanket assertions and dogmatic statements. 2: there is a difference, I believe, between 'taking up' any sport or discipline and 'coming to the fore' . 3: it might be a good idea to leave out from this forum, comments (or similar) about another member's wife/husband or child or parent (who is not a member or a public figure).. even if one is a psychologist who is able to judge another person's level of 'self-esteem' by just looking at the person once or by being introduced to that person. 4: those who have 'just taken up' to using the IPad but who 'have not yet come to the fore' will surely agree that the IPad does make some curious autocorrections. In my case, it is a statement of my being a novice in this matter. 5: it is perhaps time for us to acknowledge our individual fallibility and try make reasonable attempts at adjustment instead of shooting 'distractions' from the hip or defending the indefensible. 6: Finalmente: let's take all this banter in stride and NOT personally. Nobody (sensible) hates us. From time to time, strong words are exchanged. Happens. I also hope that we keep the uninvolved family members of others and curse words, out of our writings. Best . As always jc

I do not know why you would choose to envy your doctor friends who simply bury their mistakes and ask you WHO these 'doctor friends of yours' are. I wonder whether you are unaware of what you are stating and stating it nevertheless. BTW: whatever happened to the case of the late Miss R in Goa? There was quite a bit of noise with Vishwajit blamed for an alleged cover-up. It has been 5 months since Vishwajit left that particular kodel. Is it not time for those making that charge to either prove the allegation against VR or apologise to him and withdraw the allegation? jc
