Re: [gcj] questions about rounds and structure

2013-04-17 Thread Olaf Doschke
At least you can take the problems when they become available in practice
mode.
If you're interested in harder problems or the level of difficulty in the
different rounds, why not practice on past Code Jams?

2013/4/16 Carlos Guia carlos.guia.v...@gmail.com

I can't remember for sure, but I think you'll be able to read the
problems. However, you'll have to wait for the round to end to get an input
and submit your output in practice mode. At least this is how I remember
that it has been past years.

Re: [gcj] questions about rounds and structure

2013-04-15 Thread Malay Keshav
The qualification round is based on getting a minimum score, while the rest
of rounds are based on rankings.
To qualify the first round you must be in the top 3000

So,
Round 1A - Top 1000 qualify to Round 2
Round 1B - Top 1000 qualify to Round 2 (Apart from the ones who already
qualified in Round 1A)
Round 1C - Top 1000 qualify to Round 2 (Apart from the ones who already
qualified in Round 1A Round 1B)
These three rounds are usually 2 hrs 30 mins each.

Round 2 - Top 500 qualify to Round 3
Round 3 - Top 25 qualify for the Onsite Finals

In order to advance to round 2, you must place in one of rounds 1A,B, or C.
Once you qualify for round 2, you can no longer participate in the of the 1
rounds. See the quick start guide for info.

Re: [gcj] questions about rounds and structure

2013-04-15 Thread Paul Smith
Rounds 1A, 1B, and 1C are designed to be of comparable difficulty. Round 2
is harder. To get to round 2 you only need to compete in one of 1A, 1B,
and 1C.

It's really like they took Round 1, and ran it 3 times to give fair
coverage to each time zone.
