We have recently opened a project hosting site on Google Code:

The open source software we are writing is for the automatic composition of
instrumental and computer music, and we intend to include MP3s with
examples of the music generated using our software. The music generated
will be MIDI files initially, then exported to WAV and MP3 format using
instrument samples.
I read today in the Google Code forums of project sites being closed with
no warning because they contained MP3s. We would like to avoid this
happening to us and are writing in advance to inform you of the situation.
Thanks very much for the advance notice. Including relevant sample files
with your project is, of course, perfectly fine.
Just to clarify the record a bit, we ban projects when they obviously
contain no software development activity at all. (It so happens that many
projects that fit that description are also full of MP3 files in their
downloads areas.)
