Re: [GRASS-user] Extensions
Yes. I have a similar problem with the r.basin extension. Someone, please help me. [GRASS-user] In-river (hydraulic) sediment transport dynamics
I'll soon begin a project modeling sediment transport in a river and the effects of bar scalping on the erosion and deposition of sands and gravels within the channel. Looking at the Sediment Applications on the web site r.sim.sediment looks to be focused on terrestrial sediment transport and erosion/deposition simulation whilw r.sim.water describes overland flow hydrologic simulation. What I need are hydraulic models for in-river sediment erosion, transport (based on particle size), and deposition. I did not see anything relevant in the add-ons. Is there a GRASS work flow for hydraulic modeling and sediment transport? If not, can someone recommend a tool that allows spatial modeling of in-river sediment dynamics? When planning the output map structure it's often quicker to use the GUI where layers can be added and removed and properties changed quickly and without running the output through ps.map. [GRASS-user] 7.7.dev: save maps in GUI?
Working with the GUI to develop maps is flexible and rapid. Using the tools in the map display window adding legends, scale bars, north arrows, and text are quick and easy and often are 'good enough' for inclusion in reports. When the layers for such a map are finalized, and the visual area defined, I can save those layers and map size as a workspace. I would like to be able to save the decorations (text, scale bar, north arrow, legend) either in the workspace or as a saved map. Is there a way to do this, other than writing a script? Would being able to save the map decorations as well as layers and colors be a worthwhile addition to the tool kit? [GRASS-user] Graphical selection in Grass 7.6.1
Hi, It's been a while since I've tried doing this, so I'm not familiar with the state of the wxgui, but is it possible to do a graphical selection in the wx monitor? I see a tool that says 'Select vector features', but as far as I can tell you can only select one vector object at a time. I have to select a few hundred polygons, and it is not possible to select them from attributes or category numbers. The ideal solution would be to draw a rectangle on the monitor, and have that tool append to the selection; then pan and zoom, and repeat until selection is complete. Is this possible somehow? Re: [GRASS-user] Compiling GRASS GIS on Debian Buster
My self-reply: sometimes python pip management tool can look tricky to amateurs like me: a basic "pip install numpy" told me numpy was already installed. For an effective upgrade of any package one should rather type: python -m pip install --upgrade SomePackage (source: python 2.7.16 doc) Then GRASS starts and runs like a charm! Hope this helps folks who meet the same issue. Bye, Vincent. There is a r.in.gdal issue that remains, but it's annoying rather than critical so I'll ignore it for now. But, I'll explain it for the record. GRASS is run within the project location, a subdirectory in /data/grassdata/. The raw data files are in /$HOME/projects///data/. Since I created the raster display issue when I enter the entire command, r.in.gdal in=$HOME/projects///data/hdr.adf ... running the script grass tells me it cannot access the input file. But, when I enter it manually in the grass shell it has no problem importing the data. Perhaps worth exploring when time permits. [GRASS-user] Compiling GRASS GIS on Debian Buster
Hi, since I upgraded my Debian system to version 10 (buster), I'm not able to get GRASS working. I pulled the latest version from Git main source code repository. The usual compilation process runs apparently fine. When launching grass77 from a terminal, the startup screen appears, and lets me pick location/mapset, but when starting GRASS session, the gui can't start. It throws the following error message: wxnviz.py: This module requires the NumPy module, which could not be imported. It probably is not installed [...] whereas NumPy is properly installed: pip list | grep numpy returns: numpy 1.12.1 Has anyone experienced such issue?
