[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1592162] [NEW] Translation update + extras
Public bug reported: [Impact] This upload combines a regular translation update of the 16.04 desktop guide with changes of 30+ translatable strings. Normally we don't do SRUs of translatable strings in ubuntu-docs, but there was a late name change of the new software management application from just "Software" to "Ubuntu Software", which was not reflected in the desktop guide at release time. The relative importance of Ubuntu Software, and its mentioning in the desktop guide in several places, justifies this exception. We have taken this 'opportunity' to SRU a few other bug fixes; please see the changelog. The translators have been notified: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu- translators/2016-May/007174.html and reminded: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu- translators/2016-June/007178.html [Test Case] As an example, this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/16.04/ubuntu-help/addremove-install.html refers to "Software" only. With the update it's changed to "Ubuntu Software". [Regression Potential] For some languages, some strings, which were translated at release time, may be untranslated after this update. That's unfortunate, but these changes of original strings carry greater weight. It's also possible to improve this through translation updates later on. Otherwise the regression risk is low. This is only documentation, which does not affect other parts of the system. ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Gunnar Hjalmarsson (gunnarhj) Status: Triaged ** Affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Medium Assignee: Gunnar Hjalmarsson (gunnarhj) Status: Triaged ** Also affects: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu Xenial) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu Xenial) Milestone: None => ubuntu-16.04.1 ** Changed in: ubuntu-docs (Ubuntu Xenial) Assignee: (unassigned) => Gunnar Hjalmarsson (gunnarhj) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of नेपाली भाषा समायोजकहरुको समूह, which is subscribed to Xenial. That's unfortunate, but these changes of original strings carry greater weight. It's also possible to improve this through translation updates later on. Otherwise the regression risk is low. This is only documentation, which does not affect other parts of the system. Matching subscriptions: Ubuntu 16.04 Bugs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1589644 Title: [SRU] biber 2.4 to xenial Status in biber package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in biber source package in Xenial: Fix Committed Bug description: Please SRU biber 2.4 to xenial. [Impact]: Current biber version in xenial (2.3) is too old for texlive-bibtex-extra version (2015.20160320-1), as described in Bug 1565842 , making biber uninstallable in xenial. Backporting the most recent version (2.5) would still be a mistake since it requires a (>>= 2016) version of texlive-bibtex-extra. The proper solution is to backport the 2.4-1 version as was seen in debian. This has been verified to function properly in the aforementioned bug. The bug has attracted a lot of attention with 68 people marked as affected as of June 13. It may meet the criteria for "High" severity since it "Has a severe impact on a small portion of Ubuntu users (estimated)" and "Prevents the application or any dependencies from functioning correctly at all". [Changes]: 2.4(2016-03-01) * Misc bug fixes * There is now a 64-bit windows build built on windows 10 * Biblatexml datasources now support sourcemapping and have a schema automatically generated from the datamodel. See new biber options 'validate-bltxml' and 'no-bltxml-schema' in --help output. * New functionality in sourcemaps for creating new entries and looping over specified fields. * Sorting key used to sort names is now customisable. See \DeclareSortingNamekeyScheme in biblatex manual. * Support for Zotero RDF/XML and Endnote removed. These were experimental and messy. https://github.com/plk/biber/blob/dev/Changes [Test Case]: Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing. Lubuntu is the only Ubuntu 16.04 LTS flavor to ship Abiword and Ubuntu GNOME is the only one to still include empathy by default. (Xubuntu included Abiword until 15.10 and Ubuntu included Empathy before 16.04.) [Test Case] === 1. Install abiword and empathy 2. Run empathy What happens Empathy starts...but so does Abiword! What should happen - Empathy starts. Abiword doesn't start unless you specifically start Abiword. [Regression Potential] == Low. The Abiword packaging in Debian and Ubuntu mistakenly did not include /usr/share/telepathy/clients/AbiCollab.client in the abiword package. This has been fixed in Debian "testing" and Ubuntu 16.10 development. [Original Bug Report] === I upgraded to Ubuntu 15.04 some days ago. Not so much problem noticed since then, but only one (not a fatal one though): abiword - for some reason - always starts (automatically, without any user interaction) after logging in (to unity desktop). For sure, I can close it, but it's kinda strange it happens anyway, and I can't tell why. I could only find the following page which describes something similar (but I guess it's more on the gnome3 desktop from the OP, I mean about the "regular" Unity desktop of Ubuntu): http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2268651 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.04 Package: abiword 3.0.1-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.19.0-9.9-generic 3.19.1 Uname: Linux 3.19.0-9-generic i686 ApportVersion: 2.16.2-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: Unity Date: Sun Mar 15 00:52:30 2015 InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-03-03 (1106 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) SourcePackage: abiword UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to vivid on 2014-10-24 (141 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/abiword/+bug/1432271/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~group.of.nepali.translators Post to : group.of.nepali.translators@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~group.of.nepali.translators More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1589644] Re: [SRU] biber 2.4 to xenial
Nominated for xenial, but looking at the debdiff I'm a little bit scared (200k LOC changed). And I'm worried about: + * Incompatible biblatex/biber version is now a fatal error. what does it mean? I don't want such regressions on stable releases. ** Also affects: biber (Ubuntu Xenial) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of नेपाली भाषा समायोजकहरुको समूह, which is subscribed to Xenial. [Impact]: Current biber version in xenial (2.3) is too old for texlive-bibtex-extra version (2015.20160320-1), as described in Bug 1565842 , making biber practically unusable in xenial. Backporting the most recent version (2.5) would still be a mistake since it requires a (>>= 2016) version of texlive-bibtex-extra. The proper solution is to backport the 2.4-1 version as was seen in debian. This has been verified to function properly in the aforementioned bug. [Test Case]: Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.
