  2. check nm-applet indicator then "Mobile Braodband" could be found in menu

This is likely caused by the same clash between upstream target files
and Ubuntu systemd unit files that is noted in [1] but I have opened a
separate bug because I believe the severity of not having Ceph restart
automatically on server reboot is higher severity than not being able
to start/stop all services with one command, which is what is reported
  in [1].

The source of the Ubuntu package [2] does not have the necessary
target files that upstream Ceph added to allow for restart on reboot
under this commit [3] which is included in Ceph's github tag 10.2.2.

  [Other Info]

   * This is a SRU request for Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial).

The power indicator shows the battery level for cordless mice and
keyboards, even when it cannot identify the battery level. This is a
problem as it seems to favour showing a "not present" mouse status
over the laptop battery level in the top bar.

I haven't done a good job of explaining it, so check out the
screenshot - it will explain all :)

Basically, the laptop battery should be shown in the top bar if the
mouse/keyboard is "not present".
Also hiding the mouse and keyboard when the battery level is unknown would
also be useful too :)

Bug description:
  [Description]
Users receive warnings about importing of python modules without a version
being specified. While this isn't a big deal in itself we get lots of bug
reports from people about this issue since it is so obvious. Given that Ubuntu
16.04 is an LTS release we should fix this and prevent further reporting of the
issue.

  [Test Case]
  1) run /usr/share/apport/apport-gtk in a terminal
  2) Observe the following

/usr/share/apport/apport-gtk:16: PyGIWarning: Wnck was imported without
specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Wnck', '3.0') before import
to ensure that the right version gets loaded.

import to ensure that the right version gets loaded.
from gi.repository import GLib, Wnck, GdkX11, Gdk

with the version of apport in -proposed you'll no longer receive the
  warning.

[Regression Potential]As with any SRU this could cause a regression in
the software if the fix is typo'ed so review it carefully. If there
isn't a typo and then the chance of a regression is very very very

[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1657284] [NEW] Update epiphany to 3.18.10

2017-01-17 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Impact
==
Ubuntu 16.04 has epiphany 3.18.5. We should update to 3.18.10 which fixes quite
a few bugs.

https://git.gnome.org/browse/epiphany/tree/NEWS?h=gnome-3-18
https://git.gnome.org/browse/epiphany/log/?h=gnome-3-18

Test Case
=
Install the update. Ensure that the app still works. Navigate to different
sites.

Regression Potential

This is a new GNOME bugfix release in the stable 3.18 series. When there are
regressions, they will be fixed. (For instance the Alt+Left and Alt+Right
keyboard shortcuts stopped working in 3.18.9 but this was fixed in 3.18.10.)

No Ubuntu flavor includes epiphany by default.

Other Info
==
Please accept the epiphany 3.22 SRU for Ubuntu 16.10 at the same time as some
of the bugs fixed in this 3.18 release are fixed in that 3.22 release too. LP:

Bug description:
  Impact
  ==
Ubuntu 16.04 has epiphany 3.18.5. We should update to 3.18.10 which fixes
quite a few bugs.

  https://git.gnome.org/browse/epiphany/tree/NEWS?h=gnome-3-18
  https://git.gnome.org/browse/epiphany/log/?h=gnome-3-18

  Test Case
  =
Install the update. Ensure that the app still works. Navigate to different
sites.

  Regression Potential

This is a new GNOME bugfix release in the stable 3.18 series. When there are
regressions, they will be fixed. (For instance the Alt+Left and Alt+Right
keyboard shortcuts stopped working in 3.18.9 but this was fixed in 3.18.10.)

No Ubuntu flavor includes epiphany by default.

  Other Info
  ==
Please accept the epiphany 3.22 SRU for Ubuntu 16.10 at the same time as some
of the bugs fixed in this 3.18 release are fixed in that 3.22 release too. LP:

Bug description:
  [Impact]

The bug affects multiple users and introduces an user visible delay
(~25 seconds) on SSH connections after a large number of sessions have
been processed. This has a serious impact on big systems and servers
  running our software.

The currently proposed fix is actually a safe workaround for the bug
as proposed by the dbus upstream. The workaround makes uid 0 immune to
the pending_fd_timeout limit that kicks in and causes the original
  issue.

  [Test Case]

  lxc launch ubuntu:x test
lxc exec test -- login -f ubuntu
  ssh-import-id

Then ran a script as follows (passing in ubuntu@):

  while [ 1 ]; do
  (time ssh $1 "echo OK > /dev/null") 2>&1 | grep ^real >> log
  done

Then checking the log file if there are any ssh sessions that are
  taking 25+ seconds to complete.

Multiple instances of the same script can be used at the same time.

  [Regression Potential]

The fix has a rather low regression potential as the workaround is a
very small change only affecting one particular case - handling of uid
  0. The fix has been tested by multiple users and has been around in
zesty for a while, with multiple people involved in reviewing the
change. It's also a change that has been proposed by upstream.

  [Original Description]

I noticed on a system that accepts large numbers of SSH connections
that after awhile, SSH sessions were taking ~25 seconds to complete.

Looking in /var/log/auth.log, systemd-logind starts failing with the
  following:

  Jun 10 23:55:28 test sshd[3666]: pam_unix(sshd:session): session opened for
user ubuntu by (uid=0)
Jun 10 23:55:28 test systemd-logind[105]: New session c1052 of user ubuntu.
Jun 10 23:55:28 test systemd-logind[105]: Failed to abandon session scope:
Transport endpoint is not connected
  Jun 10 23:55:28 test sshd[3666]: pam_systemd(sshd:session): Failed to create
session: Message recipient disconnected from message bus without replying

I reproduced this in an LXD container by doing something like:

  lxc launch ubuntu:x test
lxc exec test -- login -f ubuntu
  ssh-import-id

Then ran a script as follows (passing in ubuntu@):

  while [ 1 ]; do
  (time ssh $1 "echo OK > /dev/null") 2>&1 | grep ^real >> log
  done

In my case, after 1052 logins, the 1053rd and thereafter were taking
25+ seconds to complete. Here are some snippets from the log file:

  $ cat log | grep 0m0 | wc -l
  1052

  $ cat log | grep 0m25 | wc -l
  4

  $ tail -5 log

Bug description:
  [ Description ]

In Xenial, when dbus-user-session is installed, dbus' upstart job
still starts a new bus. Things get confused about which bus to talk
  to.

  [ Fix ]

Already fixed in Yakkety. Cherry-pick the upstart job. On top of
  Yakkety's version, call `dbus-update-activation-environment --verbose
--systemd GTK_MODULES', because Xenial does not have the change in
upstart to automatically publish to the systemd activation
  environment.

/etc/X11/Xsession.d/95dbus_update-activation-env is called too early -
before unity-gtk-module.conf is started - so dbus activated services
miss the GTK_MODULES environment variable. Update unity-gtk-
module.conf to set it in the dbus activation environment.

  [ QA ]

Install dbus-user-session, press print screen. It should be delayed if
you are experiencing this bug, and not delayed otherwise.

Remove dbus-user-session, make sure the session still works properly -
the global menu works, everything launches properly, etc.

Test that gnome-terminal has global menus in both situations.

  [ Regression potential ]

This change alters the way that the session bus is launched, even if
you aren't using dbus-user-session. Even though this same change is
deployed in ≥ yakkety, be aware of this. In yakkety we have installed
dbus-user-session by default, so the case where you don't have it
isn't as well tested. I would suggest focusing some testing on the non
  dbus-user-session case.

  [ Original report ]

After installing the deb (and then the snap), certain things in the
unity7 session take a very long time (30 to 60 secs), such as
launching chromium and ctrl-alt-t for a new terminal session.

Removing both the deb and the snap followed by a reboot does not fix
  the symptoms.

  ---Problem Description---
Currently, SOSREPORT version used by 16.04.01 LTS release does not collect
OPAL log which is present in /sys/firmware/opal/msglog.

  A patch has been submitted
upstream(https://github.com/sosreport/sos.git) to do the above thing.

  commit 1bbf9e9690e7f2a5afc234b905537daacaecb6d4

Canonical, we would like to request the merge of the following patch
to Xenial (4.4.0-x) and Yakkety (4.8.0-y) kernels if possible.

b5a10c5f75 ("nvme: apply DELAY_BEFORE_CHK_RDY quirk at probe time too")

This is a very non-intrusive patch, just extending a quirk already
present - without this patch, after an abnormal shutdown of the
machine (followed by a quick reboot), the NVMe device from HGST
becomes unresponsive and we need to force a PCI rescan as workaround,
a procedure that does not always work.

  Thanks in advance,

  Guilherme

Bug description:
I tested the new Mint 17.2 MATE rc.
Whenever I logout all thumbnail files in ~/.cache/thumbnails/normal/* are
deleted.
I did not find the exact culprit. What I found out so far:

  - "caja -q" does not delete the thumbnails
  - write-protecting helps: "chmod a-w ~/.cache/thumbnails/normal"
  - a script in /etc/X11/Xreset.d/ is called too late to prevent the
deletion
  - symbolic linking ~/.cache/thumbnails from or to ~/.thumbnails does not
help

First I tried this with a Live USB stick. Then I thought it might be a
special "feature" for USB sticks. So I updated my Mint 17.1 to 17.2.
But thumbnails on a harddrive are lost too during logout. To upgrade I
  followed http://mintguide.org/system/448-early-update-linux-mint-17-1

This is a tracking bug for what might be kernel bugs or kernel
  configuration changes.

As described [1], memory used by simply mounting a squashfs file (even
an empty one) is ranging from almost nothing (on certain
  distributions) to 131MB on Ubuntu 16.04 and 16.10 on a single-core
  machine or VM.

The amount is excessive and should be investigated by the kernel team.
We may need to change the kernel or at least the configuration we ship

Cannot collect rotated syslog.1 or syslog.2.gz by sosreport. If syslog

I expect sosreport collects syslog and syslog.1 to see logs at least

Bug description:
  Currently the autoupdate timer (snappy/debian/snappy-autopilot.timer)
is set to hourly with a 15 minute accuracy.

As snappy will be included in 16.04 desktops (millions of them), this
rate has the potential to seriously overload the Click Package Index
service. I suggest changing this to 3 times per day, randomly
distributed across 24hr on a per host basis so we don't get top-of-the
  hour thundering herds.

Further rationale is to also avoid having updates downloaded by all
hosts within the first hour of release, since gradual/staged updates
  are not implemented for snaps.

Bug description:
  Hi,

I'm currently live-migrating many VMs from an old server to a new one,
and some VM can't be live migrated.

The source host is trusty with qemu-system-x86 1:2.3+dfsg-5ubuntu9.4~cloud2
The destination host is xenial with qemu-system-x86 1:2.5+dfsg-5ubuntu10.6

When the issue occurs, the destination host raises an error [1] and
  stop the migration process.

The only difference I see between VMs where live migration works and
those were it doesn't work is a different machine type.

  * migration works when VM have been created with pc-i440fx-vivid
  * migration doesn't work when VM have been created with pc-i440fx-utopic
