Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]
  After the move of livefs builds to lxd containers and use of --rbind with 
/dev, cloud image builds fail where setup_mountpoint was called from the common 
functions.  There is no related teardown for this common function so extra 
binary hooks that called setup_mountpoint were forced to duplicate the cleanup 
locally which became out of sync with the setup.

  This change adds a common function called teardown_mountpoint to
  reverse the operations performed by setup_mountpoint and makes use of
  that new function.

  [Test case]
  Daily images on cloud-images.ubuntu.com are currently failing to build as a 
result of this bug. The daily images are built using a private overlay on top 
of the livecd-rootfs in the archive, so unfortunately we can't describe 
directly a public end-to-end test case for this.

  We will verify this fix by verifying that we are able to produce daily
  cloud images again for each of the releases.

  [Regression potential]
  For xenial we should also verify this change by doing a test build of all 
images against xenial-proposed to guard against any possible regressions.
  For zesty, there are no ongoing builds of any projects other than cloud 
images so there is no risk of external regressions.

  The installer (in 16.04 and 17.10) creates a separate /boot partition,
  when required, of only 487M. This ends up being rather small when you
  using the following equation to estimate a minimal size allowing for
  reasonable room for further growth.

[Impact]
apt-daily.timer is enabled on every boot and pulls in network-online.target via 
Wants and After. While nothing has an After=apt-daily.timer (or rather an 
After=timers.target) and this should thus not impact boot performance, the 
rc-local.service specifies an After=network-online.target and the login stuff 
(getty, gdm, etc) is ordered After=rc-local, thus severely increasing the time 
to login if nothing else pulls in network-online (like an LSB script).

This works around the problem on most boots, the problem will only occur
if the timer would have elapsed while the machine was off.

[Test case]
Well, the change is fairly obvious. Actually testing that is pointless, and 
depending on the system configuration, network-online.target might be pulled in 
by something else. So just look at the file and check that the 
network-online.target dependency moved to the service.

Literally none. We just move the dependency to the service which actually needs 
it.

  We don't really have any yet, they require DNS servers and http servers, so 
it's not really easy to test.

  [Regression potential]
  We basically changed just the code used in the http method, and the changes 
are both very obvious and very small. I reproduced the http change with the tls 
support from 1.5, because launchpad was causing issues with that.

  With the failure reason reset, some errors might not be wrongly
  considered as transient connection errors and now cause scripts to
  fail. But that's how it should be, really.

  [ Impact ]

   * unattended-upgrades are enabled by default in Ubuntu 16.04 and
  later

   * Currently the following three things happen as a monolithic event:
     - metadata updates: apt update
     - download of updates: apt upgrade --download-only
     - application of updates: apt upgrade

   * For the long running instances, all of the above happens at random
     times throughout the day.

   * If systems were poweredoff / suspended, this happens on boot /
  resume

   * End-users would like to have predictable timing, and control over when
     the updates happen.

  Considering all of the above, the following new behavior is proposed
  which should address all concerns in question. It combines all the
  desired properties from both end-user and mirror perspectives.

  [ Proposed Default Behavior ]

   * Decouple unattended-upgrades application, from apt update

   * apt update:
     - shall be a systemd timer based unit, triggered every 12h with a
   random delay of 12h, therefore executed randomly twice a day.
     - if unattened-upgrades (default on), or download-upgreadaeble-packages
   are enabled, it should result in updates being downloaded aka
   `apt upgrade --download-only`

   * unattended-upgrades:
     - shall be a separate systemd timer based unit triggered at 6am local
   time with a random delay of 1h, therefore executed between 6am and
   7am local time.

   * On boot / resume:
     - if we have missed one, or more, apt update timers,
   apt update / download upgrades / unattended-upgrade will happen in
   sequence. This may result in mirror spikes, but we do want to secure
   cold/stale-booted systems as soon as possible.

  [Test Case]

   * Run system for more than 24h, and check that apt updates were
     automatically executed twice.

   * Check that unattended upgrades were triggered to be applied at
     6am..7am window, if any.

   * Poweroff the machine over the period when apt-get update was
     scheduled, poweron and observe that apt-get update / download /
     unattended upgrade are all performed on boot.

   * Downgrade systemd to the release version of the package (from
     -security). Remove apt periodic stamp files rm /var/lib/apt/periodic/*.
 Then run 'sudo systemctl start

  If the last alternative(s) of an Or group is ignored, because it does
  not match an architecture list, we would end up keeping the or flag,
  effectively making the next AND an OR.

  For example, when parsing (on amd64):

  debhelper (>= 9), libnacl-dev [amd64] | libnacl-dev [i386]
   => debhelper (>= 9), libnacl-dev |

  Which can cause python-apt and apt-get build-dep to crash.

  Even worse:

  (1) apt-get build-dep -s ./segv.dsc should succeed instead of crash
  (2) apt-get build-dep -s ./failure.dsc should complain about "Depends: 
a-non-existing-package but it is not installable" instead of succeeding.

  This is the same test as run by CI and autopkgtests, so if they pass
  the tests passed. You can also run apt-get build-dep -s dq for a real
  life example that should not segfault.

  [Regression Potential]
  apt-get build-dep and friends can now fail where they succeeded previously 
for packages that employ architecture-limited alternatives in their build 
depends, as in the second example given above, because now additional packages 
need to be installed (which is correct, though).

  [Other info]
  By setting the previous alternatives Or flag to the current Or flag
  if the current alternative is ignored, we solve the issue.

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]
  After the move of livefs builds to lxd containers, cloud image builds will 
fail because loop devices are separate mount points set up by lxd and are not 
getting bind mounted correctly into the livecd-rootfs chroot, therefore they 
are not present at the right point for kpartx -d to run to free the devices.

  This is fixed by mount --rbind of /dev instead of mount --bind, which
  then also requires changes for the unwinding.

  [Test case]
  Daily images on cloud-images.ubuntu.com are currently failing to build as a 
result of this bug.  The daily images are built using a private overlay on top 
of the livecd-rootfs in the archive, so unfortunately we can't describe 
directly a public end-to-end test case for this.

  We will verify this fix by verifying that we are able to produce daily
  cloud images again for each of the releases.

  [Regression potential]
  For xenial we should also verify this change by doing a test build of all 
images against xenial-proposed to guard against any possible regressions.
  For zesty, there are no ongoing builds of any projects other than cloud 
images so there is no risk of external regressions.

  Remove unnecessary dependency on initramfs-tools

Bug description:
  [SRU Justification]
  plymouth declares a dependency on initramfs-tools | dracut.  Plymouth does 
not require that the system use an initramfs, it only hooks into the initramfs 
if it's present and if plymouth is needed for prompting prior to mounting the 
root filesystem.

  We should drop this dependency, to support building of images with
  initramfs-tools removed for systems that we know don't require an
  initramfs.

  [Test case]
  1. On a default cloud image install, try to run 'sudo apt purge 
initramfs-tools'.
  2. Verify that this tries to remove plymouth.
  3. Cancel the removal.
  4. Install plymouth from xenial-proposed.
  5. Run 'sudo apt purge initramfs-tools' again.
  6. Verify that plymouth is not removed.
  7. Run 'sudo apt install --reinstall plymouth' and confirm that the package 
can be installed successfully without initramfs-tools installed.

  [Regression Potential]
  If a user needs an initramfs in order to mount their root device, and 
plymouth is the only package on their system which depends on initramfs-tools, 
it is possible that the user may remove initramfs-tools and render their system 
unbootable.

  This is unlikely because initramfs-tools is still part of the
  'minimal' seed and is therefore a dependency of ubuntu-minimal; and it
  remains a dependency of the generic kernel image.

  So long as initramfs-tools is installed, plymouth's initramfs hooks
  will continue to function as intended when required.
