[Group.of.nepali.translators] [Bug 1847969] [NEW] [Packaging] Support building Flattened Image Tree (FIT) kernels

2019-10-14 Thread Shrirang Bagul
Public bug reported:

[Impact]
Flexible and powerful format based on Flattened Image Tree -- FIT (similar
to Flattened Device Tree). It allows the use of images with multiple
components (several kernels, ramdisks, etc.), with contents protected by
SHA1, MD5 or CRC32, etc.
More details:
https://gitlab.denx.de/u-boot/u-boot/blob/master/doc/uImage.FIT/howto.txt

The packaging changes will add support for building a FIT kernel binary
blob which can be subsequently signed. These FIT-signed kernels will be
consumed by snapcraft recipes to build kernel snaps for platforms with
U-Boot bootloader enforcing secure boot.

[Regression Potential]
Minimal.

Resolution of LP: #1645591 added support for Exar USB UART devices in
Ubuntu Xenial kernel. However, the devices fail to RX data after
system resumes from suspend-to-ram(S3) and suspend-to-disk(S4). This

  Version 1A, 1/9/2015
This driver will work with any USB UART function in these Exar devices:
  XR21V1410/1412/1414
  XR21B1411
  XR21B1420/1422/1424
  XR22801/802/804

Dell Wireless 5819/5818 devices are re-branded Sierra Wireless MC74 series
which will by default boot with vid 0x413c and pid's 0x81cf, 0x81d0,
0x81d1,0x81d2.

  [Fix]
This patch has already been submitted upstream, reviewed and applied by
linux-usb serial maintainer.
[PATCH] USB: serial: qcserial: add Dell DW5818, DW581
    (See: https://marc.info/?l=linux-usb=150703788328773=2)

However, to meet Dell Edge Gateway 300x delivery schedule, a sauce
patch is being submitted to Xenial SRU.

  [Regression Potential]
The patch adds USB VID's/PID's to the usb qcserial driver. Regression
potential is minimal.

  [Testing]
A test kernel (snap) with this patch was verified by the ODM, no issues were
reported.

Bug description:
Upgrade the Redpine WLAN/BT RS9113 driver in Ubuntu Xenial kernel to
ver. 1.2.RC12. This version is supposed to be a production candidate
  release.

This is the latest version of the driver provided by Redpine. For now,
this driver is enabled only on x86, x86_64 architectures. The impact
is restricted to { SDIO_DEVICE(0x041B, 0x9330) } for SDIO based WiFi-
BT modules and on USB bus, this driver binds only to RS9113, lets
upstream kernel driver handle other RSI chipsets.

Fixes since previous release(see lp: #1690498)

  1.2.RC12 -
   WLAN Bug Fixes:
   ---
   1) WoWLAN stress test cases issue resolved (when all wifi, bt, ble traffics
run and suspend)

   WLAN Limitations/Features NOT Supported:

   1) S5 with WoWLAN does not work.
   2) For GTK rekey, wakeup trigger send to host.

Bug description:
Upgrade the Redpine WLAN/BT RS9113 driver in Ubuntu Xenial kernel to
ver. 1.2. This version is supposed to be a production release.

Fixes since previous release(see lp: #1694607)

  Other fixes:
  - Redpine vendor driver - Switching to AP mode causes kernel panic (lp:
#1700941)

Bug description:
Board Data File (BDF) is loaded upon driver boot-up procedure. The right
board data file is identified, among others, by device and sybsystem ids.

The problem, however, can occur when the (default) board data file cannot
fulfill with the vendor requirements and it is necessary to use a different
  board data file.

To solve the issue QCA uses SMBIOS type 0xF8 to store Board Data File Name
Extension to specify the extension/variant name. The driver will take the
extension suffix into consideration and will load the right (non-default)
  board data file if necessary.
