yes, this is set but still mGSD loses the parameters that only
happens with Chrome... it works well with Safari and Firefox

In there you can find MptwUserConfigPlugin
This is where save backups and autosave get switched on. So to change
them you should uncomment and adjust the code as required in that
tiddler, then save and reload.
There is also MptwConfigPlugin, MgtdConfPlugin, and
MgtdUserConfPlugin. The 'User' versions of these are not updated when
you do an update, while the non-user ones are.
So, if you haven't done so already, look to see if there is a
UserConfig line for txtUserName.
This is something we really ought to get in the wiki or help for the
system.
