Re: Oil Level Warning Light
We've been around on this one before, but I've noticed one thing about my bike, which is curious to say the least. My oil level light seems to be prone to coming on right after I shut the bike off briefly. I can ride with a full tank, no oil light for 200 or so miles, then stop for gas, and sure enough, right after getting back on the hiway it starts again. Maybe it's my imagination, but it always seems to be more likely to come on after sitting for a short period. If I ride for a day and then park the bike for a longer time frame, days or weeks, and then start it, there doesn't seem to be this issue. Is there somewhere in the engine that oil "goes" when you turn off a hot engine? Am I just imagining this? I can't figure out why it would happen, and it could be one of those "perceived correlations" with no basis in reality. Phil
Aftermarket front shock?
If someone knows who makes an aftermarket front shock (and model if possible!), could you please e-mail me directly? I am trying to put an order together right now, and I'm on the digest version of the list, so I wouldn't see a list response right away. Mike Corbin had one of these on his bike. Thanks for any help; new GTS shock: $570. -Greg Tag- you're it.
Re: Long trip
Having made the trip X-USA and riding through Colorado, Utah, California, WV, VA, TN, NC. I believe that my favorites are: West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina. I like California and would like to tour the northern portions of California and up into Oregon if I get a chance. But I believe the best riding I have found yet is in West Virginia. Louis P.S. I lived in Orem for 8 years, and do enjoy UT. I also will be out there for 2 weeks sometime this year. Don't know yet if the GTS is going out with me or not, my WR will be for sure. PS To all you folks in the east--don't ride in Utah. You'll hate yourselves when you have to return home.
Re: Aftermarket front shock?
I don't know but why don't you just rebuild the front shock? Louis I'd swear that the last time the front shock was discussed someone on the list had bought an expensive aftermarket shock only to find out that the stock one was made by Ohlins. Anyone? Fred Grefe
RE: Long trip
I'll cast my vote! Colorado #1 - hands down the best motorcycling roads I've ever ridden. West Virgina #2 - damn close second. Some of the cleanest and best maintained roads you'll ever see. Why? Senator Byrd! Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee who somehow gets an inordinate amount of highway funds for WV year after year. Montana #3 - Glacier National Park, Road to the Sun and Logan Pass. North Carolina Washington State #4 - It's a tie between the beautiful Appalachians and the Cascades. BTW - I consider North Georgia, NC, and SW Virginia the same for motorcycling.
