I have the same boots (JR Rhino), have found that they are NOT waterproof,
but only water resistant. After a day of riding in the rain, they are
sopping wet. I used small trash can liners to keep my feet dry the last

CO or Carbon Monoxide, is the by product of combustion in the cylinder. HC is

the four "pots" that are on the rear facing side of the ECU, which is under
the seat atop the battery. CO is the only adjustment you can make. HC, C02

want to adjust the CO to obtain the lowest HC. This would indicate you are
burning the highest percentage of fuel available. HC can show HI if the
engine is running too rich or too lean. This would be determined by the % of
CO. If CO is really low, and HC is hi, the cylinder is in a lean misfire

rippling chain

2000-08-30 Thread Dave Evans

Guys,

After some long rides and bad weather I dropped the hugger off my bike to
really get at the grime.

When spinning the back wheel I noticed that my chain seems to be acting weird.

When looking down its length from the back wheel towards the engine, I can see
that it runs straight, then seams to wriggle over to the left, a quarter of the
chain length later it wriggles right.

These are not big movements but if you spin the rear wheel fast enough the
chain looks look a big snake shimmying across the ground

Is this a bad thing i can live with, or a very expensive bad thing that needs
immediate rectification?

David

Just a side note: don't bother with the Better Business Bureu. They have no
power, authority or clout with anyone; unless the business you are reporting is
a member of the BBB. example: if a potential customer for my store were to
call the BBB asking if my company was reputable, the BBB representative would
tell the potential customer that they have no information about my company
because we are not registered with the BBB. If we do not register with the BBB
they don't record any information reported to them, they just throw the info
away.
I process warranty claims for the wood stoves I sell, and there can be things
that are not covered by the warranty. ie: freight and travel (part shipping,
technitian travel/mileage.) I don't think any of these charges apply to the
Yamaha situation, but just FYI.

Hell, the shops seem to dictate this at random anymore! MOST have had their
HUs replaced FREE including parts and ALL labor. 3 hours are plenty to
replace an HU!! One hour to replace and 2 to bleed, bleed, bleed, bleed.
Seriuosly! If it took them 7 hours, it was due to their own incompetence!
Yamaha specifys 3 hours because that is what it would take a COMPETENT
mechanic to replace the HU. This HU replacement is JUST LIKE ANY WARRANTY
work. Yamaha has given them the parts and will compensate them for resonable
labor hours. THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO CHARGE BEYOND THE COMPENSATED LABOR HOURS
PROVIDED FOR BY YAMAHA!!! THIS IS ILLEGAL!!! IT IS EITHER A WARRANTY

labor are sufficient. Read my email to them word for word and then let them

For those of you who did get their ABS replaced on Yamaha,
Did they charge you full labor?

I took mine to Gilroy Yamaha, and first they said I'd have to pay
for any labor beyond the small 3 hours Yamaha would pay for.
Then when I asked if it was ready, they told me I'd have to pay
the labor part. Then I reminded them they'd said I'd only have to
pay for anything over what Yamaha gives them.

Then they said it took _7_ hours, and they would only charge me
 four.

I haven't picked it up yet; I'm anxiously awaiting your replies. :)

Outlook and MIME

2000-08-30 Thread Henry S. Winokur

I emailed Microsoft and asked how to get rid of the MIME encoding. Here's
their response:
==
Hi Henry,

Thank you for inquiry regarding Microsoft Outlook and for using Microsoft
Online Support. My name is Andy and I will be working with you on this
service request.

As I understand, the issue is: You want to know how to turn off MIME
encoding in Outlook.

First of all, let me explain what is mail encoding method. Multi-part
Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) and Uuencode are two industry standards
supported by Outlook. MIME is a specification for enhancing the capabilities
of standard Internet electronic mail. It offers a simple standardized way to
represent and encode a wide variety of media types for transmission via
Internet mail.

If you disable MIME in all your emails, it will cause trouble to a lot of
recipients. So I don't recommend you to do this.

Here is the procedure to disable MIME in a particular message:
1. Click New to compose a new message,
2. Choose menu Format
3. Choose menu Plain Text.
4. Choose menu File
5. Choose menu Properties.
6. Click the Send Options button.
7. Choose UUEncode and close the dialog window.

If you think the above procedure is too difficult and maybe your mailing
list doesn't support UUEncode also, here is another workaround what is Very
Simple and I think it must works:

1. Before you compose a new mail to the mailing list, choose one message
come from the mailing list.
2. Click Reply.
3. Delete all information such as cc, subject and mail body.
4. Compose the mail and then send it out.
Unless you have any further questions or concerns regarding this particular
Service Request, I will go ahead to archive this case as resolved today. If
this is premature, please feel free to send email to me or respond by
posting a supplement to this case and I'll follow up right away. It's my
pleasure to be of assistance.

Thank you for choosing Microsoft!
Best Regards,

As Andy suggested I have created a blank text message that I have put into
my GTS Email folder within its own folder, so I can find it easily. From
now on, when generating new email, I'll try to remember to use it and
hopefully get rid of the MIME headers.

Of course a better question is, (Michael), how come the list doesn't handle
the MIME stuff correctly--that is, not show it?

Mike Hill sent this to me offlist. (How to 'adjust' mime.)

I just read the reply from Microsoft.
Hahahah...hahaa..hehee..heahhh.

Sorry, but what a bunch of typical 'hype' from the masters of
properiatery software. Industry standard. Ha. Who's? Their's? BTW, I use
MS products a lot, and for the most part it's ok, but I like to have
CONTROL of what my software does. Microsoft just loves to hide that
aspect of things so that the 'weak' users don't have to think or figure
anything out. Sigh

Enough of the diatribe! Here 'ya go...

-

To turn off HTML, do the following:

From Outlook click Tools

Click Options

Click the Mail Format tab

Next to the "send in this message format" there is a drop down menu

Select Microsoft Outlook Rich Text or Plain text

Click Apply and Ok

If this is regular Outlook 2000 this should eliminate the HTML. If it is
Outlook Express then it is different but I won't bore you unless you
want to know.

It isn't the list. It is the individual mailers that show or not show the
mime header information. The MIME info is simple text that instructs a
compatable mail client on how to handle it. The list simply redistributes
the MIME header info just like any prose in a message.

The real problem folks have with MIME is when it is used for plain text
messages. MIME headers are appropriate for file includes, images, that
sort of thing (not on this list, though. :-). MIME is not needed for text
messages, yet some (microsoft) mailers add a MIME header that basically
says "Hey, this is text" which is redundant and confuses some mailers.

I could go on in more detail, but who'd want to hear it?

Peace,
Mike

Jay everything I have said has been pretty much tongue-in-cheek, I hope
you took it that way. (Actually, I thought the AMERICAN comment would
have started something kinda fun)

I lived in Vancouver for 41/2 years. I left there in 1998. Riding there
is not a lot of fun until you get an hour or so away from the
metropolitan area. Beautiful - definitely, crowded - definitely,
expensive - definitely.

Believe it or not Canada actually has three deserts. One in the
Okanagan area of British Columbia, about 31/2 hours from Vancouver, one
at Carcross in the Yukon and one near Carberry in Manitoba. And yes
they all get covered in snow.

As for toys. What I meant was so many more toys for more seasons. I
was not making a comparison to the USA.

As for "lot in life", I believe a person makes their lot in life with
what he has, where he has it and who he has it with. My lot in life is
just fine thank you!

Well, Under TOOLS, OPTIONS, MAIL FORMAT, the message format is set to "plain
text", and always has been. Thats the problem, no matter what I have it set
at, it gets processed somewhat as RFT or HTML. Thats why I think it is
something in our MS Exchange servers.

FYI, I have Outlook 98 running under NT 4.0 SP6a, Dell Pent III-800 with
dual processors, 512mb ram.

Enough of the diatribe! Here 'ya go...

To turn off HTML, do the following:

From Outlook click Tools

Click Options

Click the Mail Format tab

Next to the "send in this message format" there is a drop down menu

Select Microsoft Outlook Rich Text or Plain text

Click Apply and Ok

If this is regular Outlook 2000 this should eliminate the HTML. If it is
Outlook Express then it is different but I won't bore you unless you
want to know.

generate the same sh*t you do.

I'm going to send a message with my blank text message and see what happens.

Jon,

I have a friend that uses Office 2000 and Outlook. He sends me messages
WITHOUT any of the 'mime' crap. His Mozilla is set at 0001, yours is at
0011. Does that make a difference? Who knows? LOL

Seriously thoughIt can be shut off. That 'spin' message from
Microbunk is just that. Bunko!

THEY don't want you to shut it off. But it IS possible. You may want to
email them and be very specific about the fact that you want it off, no
excuses. You may want to check with your bosses first, though, just in
case they don't want you tweaking with their stuff. In less they have a
reason NOT to turn it off, go for it.

I wished I could help more, but I'm still using that old stuff,
Office97. LOL

And on top of that, I don't use Outlook for my email. I either use
Netscrape 3.01 Gold Mail Client, (simple, clean, not a lot of whistles),
or I use Eudora. Non of them use MIME as a default.

Good luck!
