Re: Intermot in Munchen exhibited a new Yamaha sports tourer:
Guys, one thing I heard about 1300r and the reason why the bike is not coming to the states is that the 1300 engine is being used in the open wheel legend series and Yamaha gets as much for the engine as they would for the whole bike. I don't know its just what I heard. I think they would do a lot better selling the bikes to the public then just the engines to the racers. I'm glad to see the FZ-1 coming to the states. I also heard that Yamaha has surpassed Honda in European sales and is kicking ass to keep it that way. This info was from a somewhat reliable source but take it for what its worth and that's hearsay. Joe you're going to get Phil started again...Lots of very good bikes never make it to the US and they don't have to "prove" themselves in Europe first, I hope the FJR does, but it won't happen this year. What comes to the US is what the manufacturer's think they can sell out. Go to any manufacturer's web site in Europe and look at the number of models supported, then compare to what's offered in the US, granted the European market is much larger, but currently the US is a growing market and is growing rapidly and would support additional models. The FJR is a sport tourer, look at how many true sport tourer's there are to choose from in the US, not many. Even the Honda web page doesn't have the ST listed as a model for 2001, Jay what's up with that???is the X Wing really coming??? Bob B. (hoping sport tourer's do come to the US) -Original Message- From: Loss, Joe [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] snip And surely, it'll come to the US eventually if it's any good. Cheers Joe.

For those interested. I have a photo of the X-wing. If you want it, I'll mail it to you. I think it looks cool. Yes we noticed but no reason for those of us in the USA to look at it since only the FZ-1 (Fazer) is coming to the USA this year. Besides it has forks :) Bob B. -Original Message- From: Rudi Lemmens [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, September 25, 2000 5:28 AM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: Intermot in Munchen exhibited a new Yamaha sports tourer: the FJR Anyone noticed ? http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp/intermot00/models/fjr1300-e.html rudi

I read another report on the exhibition in a national newspaper that said in has no chain and that it's top speed is limited to 250 kph. Unfortunatelly I don't find any news on when this machine will be marketed - be it in the US or Europe... Oh yes, it has forks, bummer rudi -Original Message- From: uranus [SMTP:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, September 25, 2000 3:22 PM To: Multiple recipients of list Subject: RE: Intermot in Munchen exhibited a new Yamaha sports tourer: At 08:24 25/09/00 -0400, you wrote: Yes we noticed but no reason for those of us in the USA to look at it since only the FZ-1 (Fazer) is coming to the USA this year. Pictures I've seen before make it pretty clear this is a shafty. Which of course adds pounds (kilos for those non-U.S.ers). I wish the GTS was "limited" to 155 mph... This bike is of interest to me anyway, Bob, even if it does have forks and IMO conservative, unimaginative styling compared to the GTS. Maybe the styling will grow on me. Bars are too high for me also, but sounds like they'd suit most on this list. And surely, it'll come to the US eventually if it's any good. Cheers Joe.
