[guadec-list] Another volunteer

2010-05-10 Thread Mart van de Wege
H
i,

After turning up in person at the last meet last Saturday, I think it's
time to introduce myself on the list.

In my day job, I'm doing systems administration/customer
support/consultancy for a company specialising in network security. My
involvement with Gnome is merely as a (happy) user, I'm volunteering
because the venue is almost literally in my back yard.

I'd prefer to help in a front-line position, so that's probably the
registration desk and/or heralding and/or networking support at the
venue itself. I am not averse to physical work though, so I may be able
to be of assistance there as well.

Re: [guadec-list] website: map on accommodation page

You're a star!

It's still a pity openstreetmap is not mature enough to be used in a serious way
like this, we're likely to get complaints about using google maps. Then again,
i'm all for pragmatics before politics.

days of the conference. The foyer, C2, and Aula are unoccupied
on Tuesday. Would it be possible to have an all-day documentation
lab in one of those rooms on Tuesday?

The unoccopied rooms are not booked. If we need to book those, we'll
  pay extra for them.

You can book some time in the BoF room:

  http://live.gnome.org/GUADEC/2010/Schedule/BOF

  First come, first serve.

OK, fine. I just booked the last two slots for Tuesday.

 http://live.gnome.org/GUADEC/2010/BOFs
 http://live.gnome.org/GUADEC/2010/BOFs/Documentation

That only gives me four hours, but I can work with that.
The BOFs page says that the slots are preliminary. Am I
going to get shuffled around? I'd like to start promoting
 this.

Due to popular demand, there's a second room available on monday
and tuesday now, so you may want to reschedule to grab a full day.

We currently have 2 slots of 45 minutes for lightning talks, so that's
90 minutes or 18 talks basically. There is some spare room in case we
 receive considerably more.

You should basically count 6 minutes per lightning talk to allow for the
time for someone to get off the stage get the next person up. So more
like 15 or 16 talks.

Cheers,
Dave.

[guadec-list] sponsor coordination

2010-05-10 Thread Koen Martens
Hi Petra,

I'm looking for someone who can pick up the important task of coordinating
the sponsors, making sure that sponsors get the benefits they have been
promised, collecting materials to make it happen and get that to the right
people so it ends up in the right places, and just generally oversee
that our sponsors are treated with the respect they deserve!

It is one of the things you were particularly vocal about on our last meeting,
so i was hoping I could persuade you to pick up this task.

Let me know!
