To assign copyright to people and years, I used the git log plus knowledge about the work of Laura and Ricardo. Please add/correct if something is missing or wrong. I wanted to put all "artistic" work under the CC-license, but wasn't sure how to do it right. Is it enough to mention the license in the README? Or do we need to explicitly enumerate all files (mp3, slides, text transcripts)? I noticed that README would also need a bit clean-up then. I will work on that over the week. If you are faster, don't hesitate to work on it. Finally, I noticed we have some .ttf-files and I wanted to check if they are all free and what there license status is. Hi!! Shall we define this so that we upload the videos :)? Regards :) Laura

Sorry about not being able to come up with more details. The two things that came up was: 1. the manual is under GNU FDL, but as long as the videos are not considered deriving from the manual, this should not be a problem. 2. can the videos have a separate license from the code that they are critically dependent on? - believe yes. So all in all, I believe that the license choices you made make sense, and iirc I proposed exactly the same set of licenses on that older thread, which I will try to find. It is well possible that it was discussed on irc. I would like to see this fixed soon, the idea of having source code in > Guix' repositories that is only open-sourced but not free software > annoys me. > > Björn > Yes, I agree, it would be great to fix this soon. Hello, iirc this license discussion came about earlier, please have a look at that also. There were some problems regarding license compatibility. Otherwise I ageree. Hello Björn, > For the code I would suggest GPL v3+, for the voices (currently Paul) > and videos I would suggest CC-BY-SA 4.0 > > What do you think? Does every contributor agree to that? That looks good to me. For the source code we could add copyright statements at the top of the files in a similar way to the rest of the Guix code. Also, would you like to take a look at the CREDITS file and add entries for the work that you have done?. The idea is twofold: to acknowledge the contributions made and also to make the steps more visible. Potential future contributors could then say ' hey, I could do that in my language'. Best regards, Paul.
Video license
Hello, while looking at the videos and the video-repository, I noticed that we don't have any license attached to neither the videos nor the sources. I think we should really add one. For the code I would suggest GPL v3+, for the voices (currently Paul) and videos I would suggest CC-BY-SA 4.0 [0]. What do you think? Does every contributor agree to that?
