[h-cost] Gingher Scissor Service
FYI all - I sent my Gingher pinking shears in to their repair service on July 30 and the postmark on the return package says August 9. Fast service and they cut like a dream again! Highly recommended if you have Ginghers that need a little fixing up. Best, Martha ___ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume

Re: [h-cost] Gingher Scissor Service
Hm. It took me 3 tries to get my pinking shears working properly after sending them to Gingher to get sharpened. I feel like they only tested on something crisp, and I needed it to cut through lightweight silk charmeuse to finish the edges. They eventually got it right after I sent samples of what I was trying to cut but it did take time and effort. Truth be told, I don't like their pinking shears much but after failing to find anyone to sharpen other brands I've liked better, I've had to resolve myself to them. --Rachel ___ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
Re: [h-cost] Gingher Scissor Service
Truth be told, I don't like their pinking shears much but after failing to find nyone to sharpen other brands I've liked better, I've had to resolve myself to hem. I'm left-handed and, to my knowledge, Ginghers is the only brand that reverses the blades, not just the grips. But my Ginghers pinking shears only work if I can line them up exactly (but, as you said, still better than others.) I've had good luck sending my regular shears back, though. It is my theory that, rather than sharpening, they sometimes need the blades re-aligned. I'm terrible about dropping my shears, and I think that throws them out of whack (that was NOT considered a good thing to do in a costume shop where I once worked.) [h-cost] Prints George
Does anyone on this list know anything about a company called Prints George, that marketed CD-roms of mainly Regency-era fashion plates, magazines, and the like? I bought a couple of CDs in 2007, and found a copy of my invoice, which indicates they were in business since 1998, but there is no indentification on the invoice other than the website, which is defunct. I would like to get in touch with someone about possibly reproducting one of their images.
