Re: [h-cost] the tambour embroidered regency dress i made last year
Lovely work! I'm so glad you shared it. A friend of mine, pressed for time, once made a really nice Regency with colored embroidery-- which she had painstakingly colored by hand with fabric markers! It was indeed embroidered (part of the cloth), but white-on-white. So she "fixed" that by adding color. Even up close it was hard to tell. Yours is wy out of the "hand colored" league. It is gorgeous. Just gorgeous. == Marjorie Wilser =:=:=:Three Toad Press:=:=:= "Learn to laugh at yourself and you will never lack for amusement." --MW http://3toad.blogspot.com/ On May 13, 2011, at 11:52 AM, Leif og Bjarne Drews wrote: Thanks for all your welcomes. Bjarn, I can't tell, did you use any beads? Is the fabric cotton or linen? Beautiful, as always. Re: [h-cost] some questions about renaissance,
There is a Kirtle with a Ropa (I think that's what the over-dress is called) over it in Janet Arnold. Oh lookhere's an image of it: http://web.comhem.se/~u31138198/loosekirtle.html and a diary of the making of the kirtle too. I thought there was also a Ropa that went over this (It's clearly supposed to be covered up in the back!) -Original Message- From: Leif og Bjarne Drews To: Historical Costume Sent: Sat, May 14, 2011 12:11 pm Subject: Re: [h-cost] some questions about renaissance, Thankyou for the link otisto, I have thoaght about this kind of dress being a narrow dress two, so the dress inside the overdress is a kirtle right? Nice to see collour to this fashion, in Denmark almost every portrait is showing black fashion, guess its because Denmark was a prottestant country. I have thoaght about making the dress something like this.
