I ran across this page when looking for embroidered silks (which these are
not).

If you have any questions about the fiber, etc., please contact the website

They emailed me to say they want $75/yard undyed, which I suppose is not
atypical for silk velvet. This looks like the chiffon velvet popular
in the 1920s. That's the kind of style I'd use it for, and it wouldn't
require tons of yardage.

Re: [h-cost] 100 percent silk velvet

2010-01-16 Thread Traci
Just as an FYI, I had a *VERY* bad experience with these people.

I ordered quite a few samples of their red shades trying to get the exact
right color for a project. I even spoke in length with one of their rep and
sent emails with photos attached. I *STRESSED* that I was looking for true
reds and any shades of pinks would be unacceptable. I paid for the samples
and waited for them to arrive.

What did I get? Lots of shades of pinks. Even three kinds of salmon
pinks. When I contacted the rep again and tried to get the reds I requests
I was met with nothing but rudeness. In the end she tried to get me to just
order the dyed silk without a color match first and when I refused she
basically berated me.

I still have the emails saved somewhere.

Perhaps a sample through the snail mail would have been better as monitors
will vary in color. This of coarse does not excuse rude behavior.

You are right, I might have sent them a color sample if they asked but what
killed me was I stressed how much I was not looking for 'pink' and I got
three different shades (along with some shade of red but none the color I
wanted) of salmon pink with 'pink' in the color title. :p
