RE: [h-cost] purse embroideries, 1500s
Note: there is a slight variance in style depending on the country it is from and whether it is early or late 1500s. Portraits and prints of the period are the only thing I can think of right now. I know I've seen online extent purses of the period but my brain isn't work real well due to illness. There's some 1400 ones in Boucher, but that's too early. You might want to look at the museum they're in though; who knows, they might be part of a purse collection. I've got a picture near the bottom of http://www.virtue.to/articles/extant.html and my notes say "New York Metropolitan Museum" which I expect means the Met, these days. The Met has a lot of images online in their image bank. -- Cynthia Virtue and/or Cynthia du Pre Argent ___ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume

I think it's a shame when someone in a lovely outfit shows up with really out-of-period accessories (or cheap imports that are almost, but not quite, correct) and ruins the look. And thank you for posting pictures of your work. Joan Jurancich [EMAIL PROTECTED] ___ h-costume mailing list h-costume@mail.indra.com http://mail.indra.com/mailman/listinfo/h-costume
