Ia akan dimajukan Cititower Sdn Bhd, iaitu syarikat usaha sama antara KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd dan Qatari Diar Asia Pacific Ltd. Pengerusi Cititower, Hashim Wahir, berkata selain kemudahan tempat letak kereta bawah tanah dan enam tingkat podium peruncitan, sebuah menara pejabat gred A setinggi 64 tingkat akan turut dibangunkan di kawasan seluas 1.6 hektar bersebelahan Masjid Asy-Syakirin itu. Kawasan pembangunan itu merangkumi tiga plot tanah iaitu lot 185, 167 dan 176, dan sebagai sebahagian daripada pelan induk KLCC, ia akan turut dihubungkan kepada pembangunan dan kemudahan lain di kawasan berkenaan, seperti penyambungan pejalan kaki ke Suria KLCC. Pembangunan itu direka bentuk untuk menjadi satu lagi mercu tanda ikonik di Kuala Lumpur, selain melengkapi pembangunan komersial sedia ada di kawasan sekitar KLCC, katanya pada majlis pecah tanah projek pembangunan itu di Kuala Lumpur, semalam. Majlis disempurnakan Datuk Bandar Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Sri Ahmad Phesal Talib. Hashim berkata, pembangunan itu dijangka merancakkan lagi aktiviti komersial dan rekreasi di kawasan sekitar KLCC, sekali gus melengkapkannya sebagai tempat bekerja, tinggal, rekreasi, bertemu dan melawat. Keseluruhan pembangunan itu membabitkan keluasan lantai kasar (GFA) 3.8 juta kaki persegi dan dijangka siap pada akhir 2017, katanya. Konsep pembangunannya direka bentuk oleh Pelli Clark Pelli Architects berpangkalan di AS. Firma arkitek itu turut bertanggungjawab terhadap konsep reka bentuk Menara Berkembar PETRONAS dan Menara 3 PETRONAS. *Masjid dibesarkan* Dalam perkembangan berkaitan, Hashim berkata Masjid Asy-Syakirin bersebelahan pembangunan itu akan turut mengalami kerja pembesaran dan penambahbaikan bagi menampung jemaah yang semakin bertambah. Beliau berkata, kerja pembesaran masjid akan bermula Jun depan dan dijangka siap pada September 2016. Apabila siap sepenuhnya nanti, Masjid Asy-Syakirin yang lebih dikenali sebagai permata dalam Taman KLCC itu akan dapat menampung 18,000 jemaah berbanding 11,000 ketika ini, katanya.
