[HCDX] Radio St.Helena 11092.5 kHz

2007-12-16 Thread Terry Palmersheim
Here in Helena, MT at tune-in around 2325 UTC, it was the best that I have EVER
heard it since its first broadcast back in 1990. It was running S7 to S8 with
no noise. Strange thing was is that I was only able to receive it on my
inverted-V trap dipole; it was not audible at all on my Hustler 5-BTV vertical.
It was even audible on my Panasonic RF-2200 with the built-in whip antenna. I
was using an Icom IC-718 Transceiver.

[HCDX] We got probems.

2007-12-16 Thread Chuck
Hi all,

Just a brief note: This morning I turned on my receiver and tuned to 5960 KHz
at about 0953 UTC
and found the freq being Blocked! by Radio France Internationale. Obvisouly
they came
up earlier than usual and it was blocking Radiostatsiya Tihkiy Okean, Russia.
Hopefully
this will not be a regular practice? RFI was in French at the time and
switched to
Spanish at 1000 UTC. Consequently, I could bearly hear RTO under RFI.

Re: [HCDX] [dxld] Serbia resumes North American service too

2007-12-16 Thread Wolfgang Bueschel

SERBIA 7239.95 Noted RSI Relay txer Bijeljina Bosnia in Spanish [7240 kHz,
125 kW] yesterday Sept 15 at 1500-1530 UT for the very first time since
September 2006. During that long lasting pause only tiny 10 kW box from
Stubline, Serbia, was in use.

Today Sun 16th on the regular noon service 1100-1200 UT in Serbian the small
Stubline unit is in use again instead of Bijeljina non-direction outlet.
Stubline tiny unit is always off frequency by approx. 40-50 Hertz.

Much fading and S=3-4 signal in peaks. Noon service is supposedly not
covered by the rental contract with Bijeljina Bosnia installation site.

Parallel to direct audio via net

BOSNIA 7240 for the first time I heard R Serbia Internat via Bijeljina
Bosnia around 1500-1530 UT in Spanish, world nx at 1500-1510 UT.
 Supposedly
reduced 125 kW of power over a non-directional antenna, not the tiny 10 kW
tx box anymore which was in use previously since September 2006. Signal
 not
strong but readable. Co-channel interference by BSKSA Riyadh in Persian
1500-1800 UT and PBS Xizang in Chinese.

At 1525 UT an indigestible mess noted on this channel. 73 wb

I heard the European service in English yesterday evening (15th December)
 at 2200-2230 on 6100 kHz.
Fair signal here but muffled voice and DRM interference made it difficult
 to follow.

** SERBIA [non]. IRS is back not only to Europe to NAm: heard opening
 English
at 0200 Dec 16 on 7115, repeated ID, then news. This was their WNAm
 service
before it was cancelled years ago. Maybe also resumed to Au at 1330 on
 11735?
But that would collide with Turkey (Joe Hanlon, NJ, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

YRT`s B-06 registrations included: English at 0100-0130 daily on 7115,
0200-0230 daily exc Sunday on 7130, 2200-2230 daily on 6185, all nominally
 for
Europe. So 0200 on 7115 UT Sun is close but not a match. These are winter
timings, quite different in summer. Their website currently only shows
 7240
between 14 and 22 to Europe (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

[HCDX] RWM change of transmitter site

2007-12-16 Thread Eike Bierwirth
Hi,

Victor Rutkovsky on open-dx drew my attention to this article about the Russian
time-signal stations on http://www.tvtower.ru/6_News_MRC/index.phtml

In short, the standard time and frequency stations RBU (66 kHz) and RWM (4996,
9996, 14996 kHz) are planned to be transferred from Elektrostral/Noginsk
(Radiocentre 9) to Taldom (Radiocentre 3) in the first quarter of 2008.

Taldom engineers have done the preparational works (repairing/constructing
antennas and transmitters, including the unique Zont antenna system for RBU)
during 2006 and 2007.

QSLs are available from:
Russian State Time and Frequency Service
Institute of Metrology for Time and Space (IMVP)
GP VNIIFTR
Moscow region, Mendeleevo, 141570
Russia

See a map showing their headquarters on their website:

A theory:

Some are more interested in enjoying the broadcast in all its details, either
in talking about it or in actual audio files, than in collecting QSLs. This
also encourages those who do collect QSLs to be honest...

[HCDX] The Shortwave Report 12/14/07 ?Listen Globally!

2007-12-16 Thread Zacharias Liangas
The Shortwave Report 12/14/07 ?Listen Globally!
by Dan Roberts ( outfarpress [at] saber.net )
Thursday Dec 13th, 2007 4:41 PM

A weekly 30 minute review of news and opinion, recorded from a
shortwave radio. With times and freqs for listening at home. 2 files-
broadcast and slow-modem streaming. Free to rebroadcast. China,
Netherlands, Cuba, and Russia.

Dear Radio Friend,
The latest Shortwave Report (December 14) is up at the website
http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast
quality (13.3MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (4.9MB) (28:59)

This week's show features stories from China Radio International, Radio
Netherlands, Radio Havana Cuba, and the Voice of Russia.
From CHINA- China's lunar orbiter is photographing the dark side of the
moon. China's foreign ministry says that the elections in Russia are internal
affairs and they expect them to proceed smoothly. South Korea is trying to
clean up 2 1/2 million gallons of crude oil spilled off its coast. At the
climate
change conference in Bali, the US is refusing to accept any mandate on
reducing carbon emissions.
From NETHERLANDS- First a press review on pesticides on the fruits and
vegetables in Europe, and the relationship between beef consumption and
climate change. Libyan leader Gaddafi is visiting France on a military
shopping spree at the invitation of president Sarkozy. Seven South
American nations launched a new development bank, the Bank of the
South.
From CUBA- Former Peruvian president Fujimori has been sentenced to jail
and fined for abuse of power. Mexican farmers are protesting at the US
embassy in Mexico City to bar bean and corn imports from the US as
allowed under NAFTA. Over the weekend there were demonstrations
around the world concerning climate change. Some in the Iraqi government
say that the US will never be allowed to build permanent military bases in
their country. Israeli forces have been attacking Palestinians in the Gaza
Strip, less than 2 weeks after the Annapolis conference.
From RUSSIA- A commentary on the US and Israel continuing to portray
Iran as a nuclear weapon threat, despite the NIE report released last week.
There is an article about the Shortwave Report by Cassandra Roos on line
at- http://www.campusprogress.org/soundvision/780/big-stories-shortwaves

I was interviewed for an informative weekly radio show Mediageek, available
at http://radio.mediageek.net

All that plus times and frequencies for listening at home. It's free to
rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in
the
last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just
want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower
sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-
speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow
connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will
play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime,
iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.
This program will be aired on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm (PST) on KZYX/Z
Philo CA, you might be able to stream via
There are several other streams that work better-
http://www.freakradio.org Freak Radio Santa Cruz now streams this
program on Friday at 9:00am and Monday at 5:30pm(PST)
The Shortwave Report may be downloaded as a podcast from
http://www.radio4all.net/podcast.php/.xml?series=outFarpress%20presents or
iTunes (search for shortwave in podcasts)
Check out the amazing streams at http://www.radicalradio.org
And Radio For Peace International at http://www.rfpi.org

I hope you'll listen and air this if you're connected with a radio station. I
am
still wondering how to get financially compensated for the 25 hours I put into
this program weekly- any ideas are appreciated. Any stations rebroadcasting
this (or listeners) are welcome to donate for production costs. You can do so
through the website. Many thanks to those that have donated! No Guilt!

Re: [HCDX] Radio St. Helena taking requests

2007-12-16 Thread Paul
I can imagine it would be quite a thrill, when the FIBS in Port Stanley
extended their schedule to cater for the forces that remained after the
Argentinean withdrawal from the Falkland Islands, they started giving time
checks in New Zealand Standard Time as well as local because of the number
of listeners in New Zealand they knew they had.

Radio St. Helena just played a music request (an Elvis song, of course) I
sent them via e-mail. How great is that! This is one terrific hobby.

11092.5 Dec 15 2146-2245 St Helena: Radio St Helena. Signals were great into
SW Florida for this year's RSH broadcast. I was using a Kenwood TS-440
(R5000 equivalent)with a rotatable dipole (made from two 10 meter mobile
whips) mounted 30 feet above ground and pointed in their direction. For
comparison, signals were weak when I switched to my sloper and inaudible
when I switched to my Hustler vertical.

-- I phoned in and talked to
Tony Leo on the air at 2234. I was the retired ham operator with sand in my

with Tony I would love to have a copy as I did not record the broadcast.

[HCDX] India: FM radio auction goes off air again

2007-12-16 Thread sakthi vel
Leaving the 27 eligible private FM radio companies in
the lurch, the government has, for the second time,
postponed the bidding for 97 FM radio stations across
48 cities. The bidding will now take place on December
29 and January 10. The Ministry of Information and
Broadcasting had earlier re-scheduled the bidding to
December 17 and January 7. No reason has been given
for the latest change.
