3289.97 V.O. Guyana not on at 0924 and still not there at 1004 recheck. (21 August) Nothing from 4965 R. Alvorada again this morning in checks after 0924. Haven’t found it the last several times I’ve looked. (21 August) 3310 No sign of R. Mosoj Chaski here at 0935, but it was there already fading at 1004 recheck. (21 August) ARGENTINA 6070vRAE The severely distorted signal jumping and drifting around this freq is indeed RAE. Found the signal came on at 0954:47 then mx started shortly later. Caught a M anncr giving an ID at 0959, 5+1 long time ticks at 1000, then usual multi-lingual ID sequence for abt 2 min. It was just clear enough in AM mode with a width bandwidth. Was way up on 6071.3 (roughly) when the signal came on, down to 6070.2 at 1000, and 6069.7 by 1016. Posted a video on Youtube at https://youtu.be/cOUnOGg9hxQ (21 August) BRAZIL 11735R. Transmundial Surprisingly good signal at 1020 w/end of soft vcl song, then canned pgm intro by M w “Bon dia Brasil”, and live M DJ over instru. mx w/”Bon Dia”, nice ID, and cont. tlk. There was an R1 radio blackout with another M class flare just a half hour previous, so I can’t understand why this would be so good, but the rest of the band was very poor. In fact this was abt on par with 11780 R. Nacional Amazonia. There was almost nothing on 19m. The only signal audible was the CRN1 jammer on 14920. (21 August) NORTH KOREA 11710V.O. Korea 1123 end of slanted EG editorial feature, ID by W, then closing ID/sked anmnt by W including 1030-1130 in EG on 11710 and 11735. Strong signal on this freq. Dead air at 1127. In this part of my report, I meant to say 5950, not 5850; corrected: As for why reception here on 5950 is so poor, Dan Elyea of WRMI replied: ``Glenn, I think Jeff may be in Australia preparing for the upcoming HFCC meetings, so I'll step up to the plate. Your surmise is correct: the antenna used for the Cuba transmissions on 5950 kHz has a high take-off angle of 45 degrees and a horizontal beamwidth of 90 degrees. Azimuth is 181 degrees, so that the footprint just nicely brackets Cuba. Myös Pohjanlahden perukoille, eli QTH:stani suuntaan noin 300...330 astetta, on tänään ollut hyvää vetoa. Mm. kolme 60kW:n lähetintä Ruotsista, noin 600 km:n päästä, ovat tulleet koko päivän ja voimakkaimmillaan ns. tappi pohjassa. Harvemmin nuo jaksavat tulla näin stabiilisti ja hyvällä signaalilla. Noista Pietarin paikallisradioista juontui mieleeni tämän kulman kamala kehitys. Uusia meluajia on lyöty roppakaupalla mm. muutaman kilometrin päähän Lappeenrannan Mustolaan, sekä 47 km:n päähän Viipuriin. Kun tänään vertasin tilannetta kahden vuoden takaiseen bandscaniini, bandista on parissa vuodessa poistunut 2...3 megahertsiä, uusien lähitikkujen alle. Tuosta tulikin mieleeni, etten aikoihin ole Hailuodossa kokeillut Ruotsi-taajuuksia! Jokaisella uudella asuinpaikalla yleensä teen muutamien vuosien aikana suomalaisten asemien suhteen taajuuskirjaukset, mitä kuuluu ja millä taajuuksilla. Tuo on tolkuttoman pitkä listaus, mutta se on aina hyvä lähtökohta kun yrittää pitkiä Suomi-sieppauksia. Olivatko ne nyt troposirontaa, tropotaittumista vai mitä? Iisalmesta Lappeenrantaan oli ihan kiva matka. =) Se oli Suomi-enkkani Iisalmesta. Joskus kuulostelin kauan Tampereen Radio Ainoa, mutta tehoakin 5kW. Iisalmessa ja Hailuodossa tein vihdoin myös listaukset alituiseen kuuluvista Ruotsi-taajuuksista. Hailuodon listaan on tullut hieman muutakin kuin alituiseen kuuluvia ruotsalaisia. Sanoisinpa kuitenkin, että kyttäyksellä pelkällä teleskoopillakin saa kyllä ainakin yli 35 ruåttalaista kuuluville kelien myötä ajallaan tässäkin saaressa. Ja jos kyttäisi enemmän niin... Kaikennäköinen ja -kokoinen ja -pituinen lanka toimii toki radiaalina tässähän on tosiasiassa kyseessä tehokkuus. Useimmilla ratkaisuilla kuuluu, toisilla vain paremmin. Mutta kannatta toki kokeilla kaikenlaista. Joskus onnistuu ja joskus ei onnistu. Mutta kaikesta oppii. Varsinainen ongelma onkin oikeastaan tuo lisääntynyt häiriötaso. Itselläni on käännettävä ALA1530S+ ja pohjakohina vaihtelee suunnasta riippuen jopa 20 dB. Määrätyistä suunnista siis kuuluu hyvin, määrätyistä ei. Mistä pohjakohina ja häiriöt tulevat ei ole vieläkään selvinnyt (pari vuotta ihmetelty). Veikkaisin kuitenkin kiinteistön ulkovalojen maakaapelia, joka säteilee normaalia verkkojohtojen häiriökenttää laajemmalle. Valitettavasti radiaalien pitäisi olla ¼-aallonpituuden mittaisia, jotta antennijärjestelmä näkisi todellisen ja tehokkaan maan. Tai sitten 100-200 kpl lyhyempiä . MW-lähetinantenneissa näitä on vähintään tuo 120 kpl FCC ainakin USA:ssa tätä on määritellyt. Ja MW-alueella ne ovat melko pitkiä. Eli tehokasta ja täysimittaista maatasoa vertikaaliantennille on melko mahdotonta saada halvalla ja vähällä vaivalla aikaan. Toki pienempikin tuo mukanaan lisää tehokkuutta. Pelkkä maahan hakattu (kupari)putki ei yleensä tuo hyvää tulosta (so. maadoitusvastus on kovin suuri). 1/8-aallonpituus taitaa olla se lyhin mitta, mitä kannattaa radiaaleissa kokeilla ja mitä enemmän lankaa ja massaa, sitä parempi. Jos on hyvätasoinen radiaaliverkosto, antenni voidaan sijoittaa vaikkapa 0,5-1 m tämän yläpuolelle, sijoituskorkeus ei enää tee tehokkuutta lainkaan lisää. Hyvällä maatasolla korkeus ei siis ole merkitsevä seikka. Radiaalit lähtevät MiniWhipin syöttöpisteestä eli siitä, mistä koaksiaali viedään itse vahvistimeen. Mutta painotan sanaa hyvätasoinen radiaaliverkosto. Parilla epämääräisen pitkällä langalla ei tässä saa huipputuloksia toki voivat hieman auttaa asiaa. Radiaalejakin kannattaisi varmaan kokeilla. Liekö kukaan jo testaillut? Jos koaksiaalin vaippa toimii maatasona tai vastapainona, niin eihän sekään ole neljännesaallon pituinen alataajuuksilla. Oma (omatekoinen) miniwhippini on oikein hyvä VLF-taajuuksillakin, missä aallonpituus on yli 10 km. Mitään erityistä koaksiaalin vaipan maadoitusta ei ole. Tätä olen testannut QTH:ssa, joka on kerrostalon 4. kerroksessa (ylin kerros) ja miniwhip oli onkivavan nokassa parvekkeella, ehkä noin 15 m korkeudella maanpinnasta (ja hiukan talon tasakaton yläpuolella). Syöttökoaksiaalia saattoi olla mutkineen yhteensä noin 15 m. But ALSO HIT BY A WHINE WHISTLE TONE varying-wandered in 9421.788 kHz frequency range, some 1783 Hertz whistle tone heard on upper sideband. \\ 9934.943 footprint odd frequency. Annoying BUZZ tone accompanied the S=9+40dB ERT audio signal from Avlis here in southern Germany at 21.05 UT on Aug 21.
