Re: [HCDX] [WOR] Glenn Hauser logs September 27-28, 2022
Also, I am not suggesting that SW jamming is coming from the same three sites as RHC. I have no idea exactly where they are, do you? But they are surely multiple. While it is painfully obvious that Spy Numbers and RHC do come from shared sites. That kind of detracts from RHC`s reputation, hi. I do agree earlier that it is no longer appropriate to blame Arnie for everything. ** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Wed Sept 28 at 1434 tune-in via Argentine remote, LRA36 has already started, amid themesong. Wonder if nominal *1430 now instead of *1500? Good signal, but neglected to note S meter as I am breakfasting. 1436 historical talk; 1438 different song; 1442, ``nos une`` = unites us ID, YLs start live talk on 23rd programa of the season, ``muy especial``, not sure why. Cites geo coordinates, base foundation date 17 Dec 1952. This is 28 Sept, springtime! Temp a balmy -9 C, wind chill -13 since winds are only 8 kph from south. 1447 phone numbers and other contact info; 1450 song; then internet out from remote; 1502 resuming in chat with male voice but chopped off amid at 1514* and never back on by 1533 when I quit. Maybe they kept recording and will get more of it out on the Saturday replay? Meanwhile, Clara Listensprechen encountered this huge reference of Antarctica themed recordings, music and otherwise: http://www.antarctic-circle.org/valmar.htm Searching on word Esperanza gets half a dozen hits in two or three entries, but none about the LRA36 themesong near start of each broadcast (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** CUBA [and non]. 11930, Sept 28 at 0627, pulse jamming is still going! Gary Pence reports from trying the Hawai`i remote: ``846 khz no show as of 0521z. Not yet. Their regular schedule must be off the air on Wednesday and Sunday, as we have been observing. Ron California`` (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** MADEIRA. 28435 USB, Sept 28 at 2030, CT9ABY making quick contacts, QRZ as if a contest, among a few phone signals on 10 m, no beacons: ``CT9ABY Madeira Island flag Madeira Island Branislav Panak Porto Moniz Madeira Island QSL: via OM2FY or OM QSL buro, please don't use CT QSL bureau`` per qrz.com so I guess he be from Czechia (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** NIGERIA [and non]. 7255-, Sept 28 at 0638, no signal from VON direct. Something`s always nutty at Noblejas (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** TURKEY. 9830.021, Sept 28 at 2159, VOT IS & ID in English, 2200 sign-on with sked, S9+40/50 into UTwente, good mod but with some hum. Something`s erroneous at Emirler (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** UKRAINE [non]. 7730, Sept 28 at 0500, UR1 via WRMI, NO `Ukraine: Security Issue` in English thru 0518, and does not sound like Ukrainian, rather another Slavic language, presumably Slovak as Ivo noted recently; so no English at all during this hour any more? U:SI is produced multilingually including Slovak. Anyhow we can still monitor it from website in English. Maybe WRMI could drelay another hour where English be? Note: in my summaries I seldom mention places or names I am not familiar with nor how to spell them. One more reply came in favor of my providing these, for a total of three. Yet I continue, for now. Catching up on the last two, I click on the latest, Sept 27: http://ukr.radio/images/ckeditor/files/files/ENG_NEWS_24_09_22.mp3 Still no verbal dating. Exhumations completed, 447 bodies in Kharkiv region. Tied hands, wounds, torture. More mass burial sites found in Izium. More than 1000 R soldiers IDed who committed crimes. Witnesses interviewed here and elsewhere. Astounding number of executed citizens. Five EU countries do not want to join lawsuit at EU court of human rights. Torture victim at Donetsk describes jail conditions. Sept 21 exchange of prisoners. Some secure in Turkey, secret whereabouts... This all sounds very familiar --- tho labeled Sept 27, the linked URL indicates it`s for Sept 24! Manually changing 4 to 7, really Sept 27: http://ukr.radio/images/ckeditor/files

Re: [HCDX] [WOR] Cuba radio silence amid electric grid failure due to Hurricane Ian
re: To Black Cat Yankee - re 'peddle faster' A little more respect for life's work and age could also be expected from W3HFU fellow. re RadioCuba Broadcasts and technical Installations, despite everything, you have to admire the dictatorship executors there, how they still use like exUSSR relay Bejucal site from the 70s with modest means, the newer Chinese installations in the new Chinese plants at Bauta are not doing too badly either, and the CRI Relay in Quivican is still using the audio-feeders of the better two transmitters #1 and #5. Glenn is already right in his judgement of the RHC / Rebelde broadcasts, the often low-level modulation on some days is also due to a lottery game, which interference-ridden feeder line between the radio broadcast house in the capital and the broadcasting centre in the is used low wide landscape. comment on RHC service of April 2019 I got to visit RHC in 2016 and saw with my own eyes how primitive of an operation things are (i.e. they are still using typewriters for much of the postal correspondence with listeners). The fact that RHC, Radio Progreso and Radio Rebelde are able to successfully transmit at all in light of the embargo (which blocks Cuba from getting even repair parts for their transmitters without working through third countries) is a wonder and a testament to the tenacity of the Cuban radio. Obviously not all of the problems at RHC can be blamed on the embargo, of course, but I prefer their programming to the overwhelming majority of what is being aired on SW these days. Certainly much better than VOA and Radio Marti. James KG5JST Mail of November 2019, of further Bejucal plans: We are exploring the possibility of starting an old transmitter on around 3300 kiloHertz, 90 meters band... with simple non directional antenna, similar to the 60 meters tropical band antenna. Last e-mail: Since autumn 2019 in a wheelchair after a serious operation. I am tied to a nice wheel chair ... can walk a few steps only and with pain, but can work very well and tutor my students at the post graduate level. re Prof. Arnaldo Coro Antich CO2KK my ham radio station covers from 160 meters to 70 centimeters, but the power is limited to 5 Watts, using CW. The re-erection of an old exUSSR 50kW SW 'sweetheart' for the mx station Radio Progreso on the frequency 4765 kHz in Bejucal was its last recognisable achievement for the international shortwave audience. Re: [HCDX] [WOR] Cuba radio silence amid electric grid failure due to Hurricane Ian
I was able to weakly hear the Cuban jammer on 6030 against Radio Marti earlier, but it is gone now. Arnie needs to peddle faster on his bicycle generator. At 11.25 UT on Wed Sept 28 still no main power at BAU, BEJ, or QUI sites or as a precaution to avoid antenna and feeder line damage, no SW transmission is on air at present by RHC during hurricane. Power was initially knocked out to about 1 million people in Cuba’s western provinces, but later the entire grid collapsed." Consequently, there appears to be total radio silence from Cuba right now. No traces of Radio Havana or any jamming — not on a handful of known frequencies I just checked, anyway. 73, Ricky Leong _ Hard-Core-DX mailing list Hard-Core-DX@hard-core-dx.com http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/hard-core-dx http://www.hard-core-dx.com/ ___ THE INFORMATION IN THIS ARTICLE IS FREE.
