** ANTARCTICA. 15475.98 RC USB, Sat Feb 10 at 2300, LRA36 is on again, tnx to advance notice from Adrián Korol of RAE via Manuel Méndez. My favorite Argentine SDR is offline, so I bring up another one with a rather noisy signal, but 2301 s/on M chatting. It`s quite distorted too and hard to understand, maybe fault of rx not tx? 2327 I try Brasília and find it just as bad, so transmitter fault. Too painful to keep listening. By Feb 11 modulation improved but now someone is on a lofi phone line. 0013 into lofi music, but still mostly talk with some distortion; very rapid and colloquial conversation, rather than broadcast-quality speech with clarity and comprehension in mind. 0029 check direct: audible at S4 about the same as noise level. Argentine SDR also has intermittent high noise cutting on and off (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA. 90.1, Sat Feb 10 at 1044 UT when I happen to awaken, ``The Moldau`` is just ending and program ID as `Gameplay` -- so that reconfirms the secret programming Sats at 4-5 am CT i first ran across a few weeks ago. Still not acknowledged by KUCO in skedgrid nor in alfabetical program list. I search it out, to much more info and access to episodes: https://www.interlochenpublicradio.org/gameplay https://exchange.prx.org/series/39230-gameplay This was once on the KUCO sked during an evening waking hour before the massive programming shuffle a few months ago. Still undiscovered, what other secret program occupy the previous hour, Sat 3-4 am CST = 09-10 UT. Another recent unexpected change. Lane Whitesell`s post-Met unnamed vocal fill-music show has been reduced by an hour, ending Sat at 4 pm = 22 UT, with 22-23 UT now occupied by `Footlight Parade` an hour earlier than before with 23-24 UT now containing `Dinner and a Movie`, more cinemusic which I hear for the first time today, but whence? On Feb 10, Met was shorter than usual ending at 1950 UT after love-duets for Valentine`s Day, so Lane still had plenty of time to fill. Another2 change I had not noticed before but does show on sked: `Classical Guitar Alive` Saturday at 14-15 UT = 8-9 am CT, while `Performance Oklahoma` replay has shifted an hour later to 9-11 am CT = 15-17 UT; axually usually more like a sesquihour, but allows for variable lengths. Original airing is at 7 pm CT Thursdays = 01 UT Fridays. I would like to think that the latening results from a request I made months ago that 8 am was too early on a weekend. Since Kimberly Powell resigned a year ago, the new host has been relying more on recordings of UCO faculty members` own performances, rather than live events - that`s OK if there aren`t enough for a new liver every week. I find his announcing style annoyingly stilted, sorry; and he also needs some foreign language study. Note that despite its huge roster of programs, publicradiofan.com still has NO listings for `Gameplay`, `Reel Music`, nor `Dinner and a Movie`! Searching on the last title leads to loads of hits, all about a cooking TV show on TBS, revived last year, surely something else! Adding radio to the search gets it: out of KCME Colorado Springs: https://exchange.prx.org/series/34434-dinner-and-a-movie (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR) ** OKLAHOMA [and non]. I sent this to Matt Rogers, host of `Reel Music`, i.e. cinematic, which is on KUCO 90.1 Fridays at 2 pm and Saturdays at 11 am CT = Thu 20 & Sat 17 UT: ``Enough snackbar --- Matt, Thanks for Reel Music, which I always listen to on KUCO, sometimes twice. While the vintage snackbar announcements were cute the first time, may I please ask you to phase them out? We listen to public radio to avoid hard-sell commercials! While these are all in fun, they do clash severely with the rest of the program. Why not have a contemporary hi-fi, soft-sell, perhaps female, voice record exactly the same texts and run those for a while? Regards, (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK``, WOR) ** TURKEY. 5960.005, Feb 10 at 2303, VOT English not off the air, S9+25/35 into UTwente. Final news item is about Turkish activity in Antarctica on Dismal Island - or Disney? sounds like, and Horseshoe Island; just as I am hearing LRA36 on another remote. 2310 into `The Energy Agenda`, 2318 music. Too much else going on this hour to listen continuously. 2349 more nice music. 2354 quick s/off as if the 1330 on 13635; 2254.5 IS got about an icosasecond before chopoff, no finesse, uncovering XJRTV in Chinese, std denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR) ** U S A [and non].
