Thanks for the info! I have heard some of the HAARP tests in the past, and
participated in the reception of the EME experiments by HAARP at 7 MHz some
years ago. They don't do as many experiments as they used to. It's good to
have info on upcoming experiments.

[HCDX] Glenn Hauser logs February 25-26-27, 2024

2024-02-26 Thread Glenn Hauser via Hard-Core-DX
** CANADA [and non]. 258 MCW kHz, Feb 26 at 0727, dash and ZSJ, no
doubt about it this time unlike Feb 20 log, per RNA is 500 watts from
Sandy Lake, Ontario; dxinfocentre.com shows power 1000 watts. They
often disagree.

The *real* ZSJ is, or was, naval marine radio on HF from Cape Town,
South Africa. You may play it at the very bottom of:
https://www.radiomarine.org/coast-station-recordings
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** CHINA. 18900, Feb 26 at 2313, weak Chinese, not on 18970, only
other known frequency on band, leading to: Survey of mostly JBA
carriers direct with Doppler flutter, surely CNR1 jammers or possibly
Firedragon, to block Sound of Hope, Feb 26 at 2313-2317: 16160, 16100,
15970, 15920, 14980, 14920, 13920, 12530, 13020. Not in the exact
order tuned; none audible just below 13 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** IRELAND. 13264 USB, Feb 26 at 2317, VOLMET by YL voice. Shannon
sked 24h here (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** NORTH AMERICA. 11514.95V, Feb 26 at 0710, presumed Hikari FM,
pirate in Arizona or Sonora, finally some barely audible modulation.
Unstable and seems two carrier peaks, neither right on 11515.000
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 267 MCW kHz, Feb 26 at 0729 UT, HET, 25-watt NDB at
HenryEtTa; but better copy tuned to 265 USB. In 2007y someone reported
it on 263. Occasionally noted but not always logged, JBA vs noise
level. RNA and DXinfocentre.com show it the only 267 anywhere! Clear
channel worldwide. City-to-city distance: 201 km = 125 stmi (Glenn
Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** SPAIN. 9690, Monday Feb 26 at 2300, token English from SNR, feature
preview and news, good direct; 2310 first item, interview with Iberia,
bilingual publisher, about to come out Irish writers on Spain; second
to be 10th anniversary of death of flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucía
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.004, Sun Feb 25 at 2319, S9+40/45 into
UTwente, VOT in `Letterbox` already, host recalling he visited Alabama
and Florida long ago, due to report from Orlando? Someone complains
about how hard it is to find anything about VOT on the TRT website, to
which he has no comment. Also from India, and the last one from
Australia, as time is running out - despite widely variable start and
length and lots of music fill elsewhen; 2328 ``Goodbye dear listeners,
I love all of you.`` After a song, 2333 Letterbox intro/outro theme
played by mistake: something`s always awry at Ankara; more music. 2354
s/off for 1330 broadcast only, only first 6 notes of IS before chopoff
2355* uncovering the CCI from XJRTV, East Turkistan, std genocidal
denunciations (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** TURKEY [and non]. 5960.002, Feb 26 at 2309 direct, I can tell VOT
is on but not enough to break the noise level. 2330 into UTwente, when
measured, S9+40/45 music and nothing but more songs until 2354 s/off
and a few sex of IS, chopoff before 2355* uncovering XJRTV, etc., etc.
Was lack of spoken programming Ankara awry or Emirler erroneous?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 8992 USB, Feb 26 at 1555 tune-in just as ending message of
``39 characters, Big Time, out``. This is an Emergency Action Message
- or only a test? from USAF Global Communications HFGCS. A barely
legible map in Feb CIDX Messenger shows locations: Hawaii, Elmendorf
AK, West Coast, Offutt NE, Grand Forks ND, Andrews MD, Puerto Rico,
Ascension, South Atlantic[Falklands?], Lajes Azores, Croughton UK,
Sigonella Italy, Diego Garcia, Guam, Yokota Japan. No doubt this from
one of the closest inside the eastern 48.

BTW, we should be especially fond of Diego Garcia, main island of the
BIOT, since our .io groups are HQ there! At least by domain. I was
about to remark, D.G. was discovered by Portuguese, so no accent on
the i - until I found this confuser: ``Diego García de Moguer was a
Spanish explorer who also sailed for the Portuguese Crown later in
life. Wikipedia. Born: 1484, Moguer, Spain. Died: 1544 (age 60 years),
Indian Ocean``. Maybe compromise with grave rather than acute: Garcìa.
But should the c be lithped Castilianwise? (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A. 12788 USB, Feb 26 at 2319 marine weather for N Atlantic,
including ``seas`` which means how wavy, by OM voice, VG. EiBi shows
NMG, USCG New Orleans here with several segments such as 2315-2350,
not continuous (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** U S A [and non]. WORLD OF RADIO 2231 monitoring: Also confirmed
Sunday February 25 from 2100.5 in IRRS via AM Italia, 1322.997, S8/S9
into UTwente across Europe.

Also confirmed Sunday February 25 at 2255 the 2230 on SW Radio,
Germany, 3975.004, S9 into UTwente.

Also confirmed UT Monday February 26 at 0030 on WRMI 7780, S9/+15 into
reactivated Louisiana SDR.

Also confirmed UT Monday February 26 from 0359 on Area 51 via WBCQ
6159.935, S7/S8 into Maryland SDR.

Also confirmed Monday February 26 at 2043 the 2030 on SW Radio,
Germany, S8/9+5 but noisy into UTwente. Next:

0330 UT Tuesday WRMI 7780 to SW
1400 UT Tuesday WRMI 9955 to SSE [also web-, phonecast; jammed?]
0030 UT
