[HCDX] AIR in the 90 mb

2006-04-21 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
There are still three All India Radio stations in the 90 mb: 3223 kHz Shimla,
3315 kHz Bhopal and 3365 kHz Delhi. Yesterday Bhopal and Delhi were about
closing time after 1730 UTC. Maybe Shimla had gone off the air a bit earlier.
Where is my favorit Gangtok, the Himalayas, Sikkim 3390 kHz these days?! Really
feel confused on new AIR frequency plan.

[HCDX] Radio Belarus

2006-03-24 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
BELARUS: 7125 R Belarus *2030- in English. I checked all the frequencies of R
Belarus given in WRTH 2006. This was the best frequency. Second best was MW
1170 kHz with QRM by R Sawa, UAE and R Capodistria from Slovenia in Italian.

7440 kHz was very, very poor. One could hardly detect the language, English. On
7340 kHz there was an Arabic speaking station, IBRA R from from Julich tells my
Passport.

Overall reception from R Belarus was very poor both on SW and MW! Date is March
24.

[HCDX] Sri Lanka BC on 7275- and 11905 kHz

2005-11-18 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation can still be heard here in Finland. Their
bilingual Hindi/English Service was noted today November 18 on 7275- and 11905
kHz at 15 UTC scheduled 1330-1530 UTC.

Hindi section of the programme was introduced by a lady announcer, English by a
male announcer. Music mainly Asiatic/Indian, no more Western evergreens. I miss
the old format on 15748 kHz.

Last 34 minutes before close down at 1534 UTC reception on 11905 kHz was good.
Signal strength at peaks S9. Reception in the 41 mb, 7275 kHz was a lot weaker,
suffering Chinese QRM after 15 UTC. I measured nominal 7275 kHz with all QRM
7274,75 kHz. Maybe I´m wrong.

Anyway, glad to hear SLBC!

  Hi Jouko and lists,

At 1257 7 Oct I could only hear Voice of Russia via Chita (it might be
Russian WS, Sodruzhestvo or RIR - no clear ID at 1300) on 9745. Well, then some
station in Chinese popped out at 1302, but my language skills, that are about
zero, didn't permit me to identify it. And I had to leave my listening post
soon.

And could it merely be a Chinese jammer over the Voice of Han?

[DX] Kansainväliset postituslistat

2005-10-06 Thread Jouko Huuskonen

Olen aina ihmetellyt kuinka vähän suomalaiset
DX-kuuntelijat avustavat esim. HCDX:n kansainvälistä listaa, samaa koskee mm.
Glenn Hauserin DX Listening Digestiä. Poikkeus on Mika Mäkeläisen www.dxing.info.

Suomessa DX-toiminta on aktiivista, kuten Andy
Sennitt totesi jokin aika sitten. Joten miksi pantata tietoa, jos kuulee
mielenkiintoisia asemia? Minä ainakin aion jatkaa valitsemallani tiellä, vaikka
englantini on aika yksinkertaista. Jospa alkaisin kirjoittaa lokauksiani

harrastukselle.

GREAT BRITAIN: Pulse Classic Gold, Huddersfield identified at 0358 UTC October

[HCDX] Propagation on MW this week

2005-09-16 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Propagation on MW this week (37) has been very strange due to the geomagnetic
storm. On 1377 kHz I can under normal conditions hear France Info, Lille 300
kW. Sometimes a Chinese station. This week at 1730 UTC the dominating station
has been TWR Gavar, Armenia signing on at 1725 UTC.

18 UTC on 1314 kHz I´ve been hearing BBC Al Dhabbaya, United Arab Emirates
instead of NRK´s powerhouse.

Last wednesday 14.9. almost the only station on MW-dial around 18 UTC was YLE
Pori. MW-band was almost totally silent except some stations from Iran and
Romania. For some reason during the geomagnetic storms mw-stations from Italy,
Romania and Iran come with exceptional good reception. Selection is very
limited indeed.

Noted AIR Shillong 4970 kHz closing down with announcements both English and

[HCDX] 16 mb bandscan 1245-1305

2005-04-29 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
I know this is not real hard-core DX-ing, but it was simply fun to make this
quick bandscan of 16 meter band April 29 1245-1305 UTC. There´s once again life
in upper bands after long and exhausting dark winter. So I got excited and made
these observations. Here´s a list of stations heard:

-21505 BSKSA Riyadh in Arabic
-21540 REE Madrid (Noblejas) //21570 kHz
-21580 RFI Issoudun in French
-21600 BSKSA Riyadh in Arabic (14 UTC in French)
-21610 REE Madrid (Noblejas) to the ME // 21540- and 21570 kHz.

21620 RFI Issoudun in French to Africa with 500 kW of power //21580 kHz.
-21640 BSKSA 1 Riyadh in Arabic

-21660 BBC in Mandarin via Nakhon Sawan, Thailand went off at 13 UTC
-21675 R Jamahiriya via France // 21695 kHz.
-21685 RFI Issoudun in French to Africa // 21580- and 21620 kHz.

-21760 RFI via Meyerton in French with other RFI outlets. This offered the best
and strongest signal.

I enjoyed warm spring weather (+14) in the backyard with my Sony 7600G and a
five meter reel antenna. My sources of information were EiBi and Passport.

Many RFI and REE frequencies and even two frequencies of Libya via France.
First blue anemones are flowering and today I saw the first bee. Spring has
finally arrived and upper bands are open! Have a happy First of May!

I know this is not real hard-core DX-ing, but it was simply fun to make
this quick bandscan of 16 meter band April 29 1245-1305 UTC. There´s once again
life in upper bands after long and exhausting dark winter. So I got excited and
made these observations.

This offered the
best and strongest signal.

It seems as Pirate Radio 603 AM (or whatever it calls itself now) is
testing again from Åland, Finland.
Heard this morning (April 16th.). On before 06 UTC and onwards with
typical music (everything from punk to blues). No announcements, Not
a spoken word. Music ended and silent at 07.05 with only carrier left.
Best regards

recently reported frequencies. Result was, only one frequency 15120 kHz with a
five minute newsbulletin in English followed by a letter-box prpgramme was
heard. Audio was very nice, not muffled or distorted.

No sign of 9690- or 17800 kHz. 16 mb does not propagate at this time of the
year. On reported 7275 kHz I found a Russian speaking station, CRI Urumqi with
S9+dB/-4-5 reception, also noted at the same time on 1557 kHz via Sitkunai (150
kW), Lithuania. On 7275 kHz there was RNE Noblejas maybe relaying Radio
Valencia. Soccer/football mentioning Copa del Rey.

18 UTC.

Just now February 15 1515 UTC very good reception conditions to Asia in the
60mb. R Malaysia Sarawak, Kuching on 5030 kHz heard after several years. Has
this one been inactive? Quite a mess with Central People´s BS, Beijing.

Mongoliin Radio is seldom audible at my QTH during the afternoon hours. Now
really strong signal on 4895 kHz at 15 UTC. 4830 kHz was a lot weaker. S/ON of
Mongolia at 22 UTC is often heard on these two outlets.

[HCDX] Radio Nikkei on 9595 kHz

2005-02-14 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
JOZ3 Radio Nikkei was heard today Valentine´s Day February 14 on 9595 kHz only
ten minutes from 1150 UTC till the powerful sign on of CRI Beijing via
Shijiazhuang in Russian at 12 UTC. Signal strength for Radio Nikkei was S5-7
and overall merit of reception 2-3. I tried three other Nikkei frequencies. On
6055 kHz there was an Arabic speaking station, most propably Radio Kuwait. The
75 meter band does not propagate at this time of the day or maybe not even the
season.

BTW, it was very boring to listen to Nikkei stock exchange news in Japanese
while having Japanese takeaway lunch!

National news in English of Radio Pakistan noticed on three frequencies at 16

[HCDX] Radio Farda 1575- and Radio Asia 1557 kHz

2005-02-11 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Just now February 11at 1515 UTC I´m enjoying Radio Farda´s superior reception
on new 1575 kHz. Yesterday there was some QRM by IBB/ VoA Ayutthaya and Farda
noted also on 1170 kHz. BTW, as far I know A is the former Capital of
Thailand. No contest between Farda and IBB here today. 800 kW would easily
explain signal strength S9 +10dB.

Also Radio Asia from Ras al Khaimah on new 1557 kHz (ex -1575 kHz) coming
through today Feb 11 at 1525 UTC. Fair to poor signal and lots of fading. A
couple of days ago very strong bubble jamming on 1557kHz. Jamming is now
increasing, so the jammer must be located in the Far East and in certain
country, China? Are they jamming Kouhu?

[HCDX] R DMR and R Moldova

2005-02-03 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Wednesday February 2 I heard R DMR, Tiraspol broadcasting over transmitter
site in Grigoriopol on 5960 kHz. DMR meaning Dniestr Moldovian Republic. I came
on frequency at 1705 UTC when station was broadcasting in English. From 1721
UTC German until close down at 1742 UTC. Excellent reception in spite of
co-channel QRM by a Chinese station.

R Moldova 1 regularly logged on 1494 kHz at 15 UTC with news in Moldovan.
Reception is good.

[HCDX] Bandscan 60 mb 1645-1715 UTC

2005-01-29 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Here´s a quick list of the stations heard January 29 in the 60 meter band
1645-1715 UTC, that´s evening in Finland. No positive ID´s, just checking
stations from WRTH and Passport.

-5080,3 kHz R Pakistan, Islamabad S8/3. S8 being signal strength and 3 overall
merit of SINPO code.
-5060 Xinjiang People´s BC Stn, Urumqi S8/3-4
-5050 Voice of Strait, Fuzhou. Really no ID.
-5040 AIR Jeypore S8-9/3-4. Earlier in the afternoon hours R Myanmar is often
heard.
-5030 CBS Beijing S5/2-3
-5015 Turkmen Radio, Asgabat with distorted audio. S9/4
-5010 AIR Thiru. S8-9/3-4.´

-4975 Voice of Russia via Tajikistan // 4965 and 4940 closing down at 17 UTC.
Fair reception.
-4965 Christian Voice, Lusaka with poor reception.
-4950 AIR Srinagar S5/2
-4930 Turkmen Radio S8/3-4
-4920 Xizang PBS, Lhasa // 4905. QRM by AIR Chennai
-4910 AIR Jaipur S7/3-4

-4880 AIR Lucknow S7/3
-4860 AIR Delhi S9/4
-4840 AIR Mumbai S9 +5/4
-4820 Xizang PBS, Lhasa S9/4
-4810 Voice of Armenia S7/3-4
-4800 Central People´s BS, Geermu QRM by AIR Hyderabad

-4795 Ulan-Ude R S6-7/2
-4790 AIR Chennai S8/3-4
-4775 AIR Imphal S8/3
-4760 Two AIR stations as usual: Leh and Port Blair

Propagation was not best possible this time.. Normally every single station
from India is easily heard. Not this evening.

-12 stations/frequencies from India
-8 from China
-4 from Russia
-2 from Turkmenistan
1 from Pakistan, Zambia and Armenia

Really boring list, isn´t it?! Africa comes later in the evening or early night
and Latin America in early morning hours. I´m not early bird, so I prefer
Asia and Africa in tropical bands.

[HCDX] Some MW- logs from week 3/05

2005-01-22 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Here´s a simple list of the MW-stations this week:

-1385,8 kHz R RURALE, Labé noted several times after sign/off 2300 UTC CRI
Beijing in German via Kaliningrad. Good reception indeed thanks to geomagnetic
storm.

-1287 // 1224 and 6973 KHz Galei Zahal with nx at 16 UTC. Glad to hear Galei
Zahal also on MW.

-1017 // 927 kHz also around 16 UTC R Patria via Slovensko R in Hungarian. No
positive ID. What is R Patria, I wonder? More info needed.

-999 kHz Aici Moscu = VoR in Romanian at 17 UTC. QTH is Grigoriopol, Moldova.
Excellent reception here in Turku. SIO 444.

-1494 kHz 18 UTC, not Finnish by the Voice of Russia as supposed. UNID station
here! TNX to geomagnetic storms! Really unusual conditions...VoR in Finnish
barely heard only on SW, not in MW.

-1314 kHz 1803 UTC Romanian radio (total power of three tx is 51 kW) instead of
NRK 1200 kW powerhouse! Also Iran once heard here instead of NRK during
exceptional conditions.

-1566 kHz 2218 UTC County Sound Radio with ID. Power only 800 W. Spaniards and
britons come with good signals at my QTH Turku, SW of Finland. This is not a
real DX catch at my QTH.

-990 kHz 2015 UTC R Sawa, Cape Greco, Cyprus coming with booming signal over
German station. News with main topic President Bush. This is also due to
unusual Solar conditions.

Re: [HCDX] Equatorial Guinea 15190

2005-01-19 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
I just tried 15190 kHz at 1715 UTC. Really, there is an English speaking
religious station. Reception was very weak and best with LSB. This must
re-activated Radio Africa from Equatorial Guinea as suggested by Jari
Savolainen. This is a new acquaintance for me.

On 19 Jan at 1615 noted a station with US religious program
on 15190. The signal was ok, but audio at times sounded like
a faulty CD player. Improved later and the ID was Radio Africa
number 2. So Equatorial Guinea activated here - long time, no hear.

[HCDX] Guinea on SW and MW

2005-01-18 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Thanks to geomagnetic storms, Africa offers always nice surprises on
radiowaves. Here´s two stations from Guinea:

7125 kHz RTG Conakry heard January 16 with French programming on 7125 kHz at
2228 UT. ID simply Radio Guinée. Reception poor to fair. Some splashes from
Radio Tirana signing on in English at 2230 UTC on 7120 kHz.

1385,8 kHz Radio Rurale, Labé with language I couldn´t recognize. Really strong
signal after the close down of CRI Beijing in German via Kaliningrad at 2300
UTC. Also January 16.

WMR (World Music Radio) is on the air right now (Friday 1230 UTC) and
until Monday morning 0700 UTC. The frequency is 5815 kHz - and power is
5 kW.
And without any Christmas music... guaranteed :-)
Reception of WMR is possible in large parts of Europe during daytime.
The deep winter seasons means that reception close to the transmitter
site in Denmark becomes poor after sunset. However reception in Southern
Europe should be all right in the evening hours.
Reception overseas is sporadic but sometimes possible in the Americas
after 22 UTC. From Africa, Asia and Pacific we haven't received any
reports recently.

[HCDX] VL8K ABC Katherine, NT 5025 kHz

2004-12-17 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
This is really only a tentative logging. I just heard December 17 at 1350 UTC
an English speaking station on 5025 kHz with Australian accent, I suppose. This
must be ABC Katherine. Unfortunately reception was very, very poor indeed. No
other SW-Aussies were audible. EiBi gives these hours for this station:
2130-0830 UTC. Same schedule with ABC Alice Springs 4835 kHz. Alice Springs
comes sometimes with booming signal at this time, local afternoon.

Really surprising results on MW and tropical bands. All signals were at least

Akashvani Kohima-ID. This station is a real exception among other AIR
stations. It sounds many times so completely different! from all the other AIR
stations. My Oxford Dictionary of the World tells this about Kohima: City in the
far north-east of India, capital of the state of Nagaland; pop. (1991) 53,000.
The Japanese advance into India during World War II was halted here by the
British and Indian forces.

Really nice reception of AIR Kohima on 4850 kHz here in SW of Finland.

[HCDX] Vietnam on SW

2004-11-07 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
After sending a message to the Finnish list of HCDX, Jari Savolainen replied,
there are only two Vietnamese stations on SW based on observations by Davies.
His QTH is in the Philippines? Those two are: 4740v, SonLa Radio and TV on 828:
2200-0100, 0400-0600, 1200-1400 //828 MW.

6379v, Dien Bien Radio TV, Dien Bien Phu (sad place to the French Army) :
?2200-0030, 0400-0600, 1200v-1330 (NB name change from LaiChau following the
division of old LaiChau
province into new LaiChau and Dien Bien province into new LaiChau Provinces;
the transmitter usually switches on any time time between *1130 and * 1155 in
the middle of programming presumably carried on MW or FM )
(Davies in DXPlorer, September 19 via DX-Window 255)

This all info was published in the club magazine Radiomaailma 10/04 (Radio
World) of the Finnish DX Association. Jari Savolainen is an editor of Asia/
Oceania column of the World DX Bulletin.

So, my UNID Vietnamese station on 6378,60 kHz at 1238 UTC is without no doubt
DIEN BIEN RTV!!!

[HCDX] RRI stations on SW

2004-10-30 Thread Jouko Huuskonen
Propagation has been exceptional good this week. So, I´ve managed to hear several
Radio Republik Indonesia stations on SW. The strongest station in the 90 mb yesterday
October 29 1340-1435 UT was RRI Palangkaraya from Kalimantan broadcasting on 3325 kHz.
Exotic local music really pleasing my hearing with the bw 5,5 kHz of my AOR. Signal
strength even S8-9.
After 1430 UT Quran chanting on this frequency and also noted on 3345 kHz Ternate and
Jambi on 4925 kHz.

4790 kHz RRI Fak Fak from Papua went off the air with Love Ambon at 1357 UT. Also
these RRI-stations noted 1330-15 UT: RRI Pontianak 3976 kHz. Pontianak is maybe the
strongest Indonesian at my QTH. 4000,2 kHz Kendari;
4605 kHz Serui; 4750 kHz Makassar.
