Bolivia, 3309.95, Radio Mosoj Chaski, 0937-1000, At tune in heard a male in Spanish comments briefly. After a few comments, music was presented for a couple of minutes. Following the music a female continued to talk. Signal was fading in and out at a poor level. (Chuck Bolland, October 23, 2009) Honduras, 3340, HRMI (pres), 0945-1000, Noted steady popular Spanish language music at tune in. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland, October 23, 2009) Brazil, 5045, Radio Cultura Ondas Tropicais, (pres) 0955-1005, Noted mostly music until 0957 when a male comments in Portuguese briefly. After a few comments, back to music. On the hour, more comments. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland, October 23, 2009) Bolivia, 6155.20, Radio Fides, 1005-1015, At tune in, noted a female in Spanish language presenting the news. Heard some place names such as Cina during the news. At 1008 music is presented. At 1010 canned promos and ID. For the first few minutes of this logging, the signal was at a fair level although if had some splatter interfering with it. The signal was surprisingly audible this morning eventhough there was fading and splatter. (Chuck Bolland, October 23, 2009) Bolivia, 6134.82, Radio Santa Cruz, 1011-1020, Noted a male and female in Spanish comments. Signal was very poor with splatter. (Chuck Bolland, October 23, 2009) Bolivia, 6075, Radio Causachun Coca, 1015-1030, Pulling this signal in required a little tickling. With a very weak signal, noted a male in Spanish comments here while the signal drops out periodically to nil then fades back in. One thing about this band regardless of the frequency, there's always enough splatter to interfere with the target's reception. At 1019, a female joined the conversation. The station's signal remained at a poor level. (Chuck Bolland, October 23, 2009) Guam, 5765, AFN, 1032-1045, Steady news and commentary from the Radio networks(NPR), in the USA. Bolivia, 4699.96, Radio San Miguel, 1035-1050 Not much to report on this. Noted a male in Spanish language comments during the period. The signal kept fading to nil and was gone by 1050. (Chuck Bolland, September 11, 2009) Indonesia, 9680, RRI Jakarta, 1048-1133 With a very nice signal this morning, noted two males in a Indonesian Language conversation at tune in. Later canned promos which was followed with the Qu'ran (hope I got the correct?). This type of activity continued until the hour. Signal was good. (Chuck Bolland, September 11, 2009) Indonesia, 9524.94, Voice of Indonesia, 1057-1105, Prior to the hour, noted a program of English language possibly. The signal was very weak at this time and difficult to hear. However, at 1103, noted a female in possibly Chinese language comments. The signal improved considerably at 1103 which suggested that the beam had been adjusted for this transmission. So the signal went from poor to good. (Chuck Bolland, September 11, 2009) Thailand,(relay) 11785, Voice of America, 1130-1205, Noted a transmission of Chinese language comments and features with the usual VOA theme between segments and some English heard when a recorded comment was presented. Signal was fair. (Chuck Bolland, September 11, 2009) China, 11785, China Radio International (tentative), 1130-1205. Okay this station was on top of the VOA's transmission above and was transmitting in Chinese language. Thought I might hear Indonesia here at 1130, but Japanese was schedule for them at that time and I didn't hear any Japanese during the entire period. So, going with CRI for this one which never missed a beat in their broadcast. Signal was fair to good. (Chuck Bolland, September 11, 2009) Watkins Johnson HF1000 26.37.34.65N 081.05.34.19W Note: I have been out of service lately. Last Friday we had a very bad lightening and thunder storm in this area and it was difficult to avoid all of the static electricity bouncing off of the structures around here. I heard a couple of loud claps over my dwelling that sounded rather ominous, but I had disconnected all of my equipment. So I had nothing to worry about, or did I? None of my receivers were hit, but my TV antenna amplifier took a hit and so did my computer modem via the telephone line. Live and learn. I think I am going to start passing on these failures to my homeowners insurance? Last year during the raining season, a similar incident occurred. A very serious Lightening Storm was in progress with lightening hitting all around the area. I had disconnected my antennas and grounding from my receivers. However, one bolt of lightening found one of my antenna feedlines and travel along into my house eventhough the line had been disconnected with no where to go, the lightening exploded in a ball of static electricity inside my home. Talk about ones life flashing before his eyes? Even when everything is disconnected, the power that exist in these storms is awesome and a mere space of a few inches between the receiver and the antenna line, isn't going to stop a billion watts of power from getting into ones equipment. It seems like a billion to me. Indonesia, 4750.00, RRI Makassar, 1000-1030, Noted a weak signal here on the hour with Indonesian language comments from a female. This is followed with Qu'ran prayer by a male which lasts until 1011. More brief comments then music. The signal is threshold at this time and needs to be checked later. Rechecked this freq at 1045 and noted that the signal had improved to a poor level as a male and female conversed. (Chuck Bolland, July 24, 2009) Bolivia, 3310, Radio Mosoj Chaski, 1032-1045, At tune in heard a male and female in Spanish comments. At 1034 music is heard. At 1038 more comments are heard. (Chuck Bolland, July 24, 2009) Peru, 4775, Radio Tarma, 1045-1100, Eventhough the signal was very poor, noted single male in Spanish language comments. Later noticed a female joining in with comments. Signal was threshold by 1100. (Chuck Bolland, July 24, 2009) Bolivia, 6075, Radio Causachun Coca, 1057-1115, Noted a single male in Spanish language comments at tune in. He talks until 1100 when canned promos or ADs are heard. Just guessing, but this is probably the only Bolivian station that is exactly on their assigned frequency. And I'd venture another guess that, that is because they haven't run into any interference yet. I don't see any problem with Bolivian stations retuning their signal to off frequency slightly. Since they usually have low power, it is easier to pull them out of the pile up. After the promos the male continues to talk. By 1107 Causachun had faded badly to threshold. (Chuck Bolland, July 24, 2009) I reluctantly decided to stop listening by 1115 UTC this morning, although I felt there were still some decent DX left. Brazil 6090, Radio Bandeirantes, 0915-0935 Steady Portuguese comments from a male person. At 0930 precisely, five time ticks. I found this unusual since most if not all stations do this on the top of the hour. Following this, canned promos heard. With a poor signal already, it is being covered with noise. (Chuck Bolland, September 26, 2008) Russia, 5920, Radio Rossii, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy, 0945-1040, This is a network and parallel broadcast heard on 7200 KHz (Yakutsk) and 5940 KHz (Khabarovsk)too, with music and Russian comments between tunes. At 0959 noted a live ID as Radio Rossii followed by program notes. Parallism (is that a word?) continues after the hour with news. Here on 5920, there's no sign of WBOH at this time. They'll probably fade in or sign on after 1000 UTC.(They didn't. never heard them.) For listening, 7200 is the better of the three freqs with a good signal while 5920 is only poor.
