e-QSL came in from FRSH for 21 August reception. (4 Nov.)

5024.891PERU R. Quillabamba Found Rebelde was off this evening
and was getting an alternating M and W already at around 2220, pres. nx
pgm. The same lady hosted camposino mx pgm after 2230 w/ments of
Provinica, camposina, Quillabamba, and Peru. Improved towards ToH.
Canned ID/promo by W at 2301, then another w/flute mx, live W anncr
again w/intro ID and ment of pgm “Comunicadades Cristianas Campesinas,
then said pgm to 2330. Mx briefly, then ID/intro by M w/singing by lady
briefly and next pgm of prayers and Rosary by group of girls. 0001
girls were cut off for ID/outro similar to the intro. 0002 nice canned
anmnt by alternating 2 men with 4 IDs by the deep-voiced M. Tlk by live
M starting w/TC, then nice canned ID/promo by W at 0004 followed by
another canned anmnt. Signal dropped off a bit towards s/off. 0159
canned complete ID anmnt by alternating M and W, same as at morning
s/on, starting with the bombastic orchestral mx and pleasant “giddyup
llama” Andean melody, along w/calls and freqs given. One final canned
anmnt by M ending w/mx to 0201, and plug pulled at 0202:18. No NA at
s/off. Not a great signal but readable and nice to hear them in the
clear w/out Rebelde all evening. (4-5 Nov.)

4985.01 BRASIL R. Brasil Central RTTY was going off and on all
evening but off abt 2/3 of the time. Brasil Central abt the best hrd in
a while and best at the ToH, but no ID noted then. ID jingle at
0201. (4-5 Nov.)

13800 SOMALIA Puntland R. Definite M anncr cutting away for M
yelling briefly at 1341, then more tlk, same as hrd on the Twente web
rx. 1347 into HoA mx. 1351 people shouting in unison, then more mx.
Fady and difficult and never really got any better by the time presumed
Tamazu came on at 1430. (5 Nov.)

Got a nice e-QSL from R. Enterprise (Europirate) for my 31 Oct.
Halloween reception on a Youtube video I posted. (5 Nov.)

An e-QSL came in from Moonlight R., for my 31 Oct. Halloween reception
on a Youtube video I posted. (5 Nov.)

Since Rebelde wasn’t on again, I ran a recording hoping to get a
screenshot of R. Quillabamba coming up out of the noise floor starting
at 2126, but it wasn’t on. (5 Nov.)

6 November 2016 Micro-DXpedition:
RX: Perseus SDR
ANT: 313' Beverage (BOG) aimed at 60°.
Duration: 0635-0905 UTC.

6115 very weak signal here at 0635 start. Must have been a Cuban spur
as it was still there at 0738 check.

6070 is now blocked from 0630-0715 by Vatican, so no chance for Channel
292 at that time.

3985 GERMANY R. Slovakia Int. (via Kall) (pres.) 0642 end
of EG tlk by M w/ment of Slovakian people, then into lively mx. Gone
after 0700 check. (6 Nov.)

4028.98 PIRATE (EUROPE) LHH 0640 weakly w/M anncr at t/in,
jingle w/deep-voiced M, then Pop mx. 0711 M DJ again in UK-accented EG.
Never got any better and faded out. (6 Nov.)

7210 ETHIOPIA R. Fana Nice signal w/lively mx at 0649, then
M anncr in pres. Amharic, then M and W tlk. Signal suddenly gone at
0656:55. (6 Nov.)

6205.08 PIRATE (EUROPE) LHH (relay) Was fair at 0635 start but
nearly gone at 0702 check. Improved a lot at 0751 w/”I Guess That’s Why
They Call It the Blues” by Elton John. 0753 short anmnt by M w/info for
reports to LHH. Nice ID jingle between songs at 0757. 0759 ID by W and
into nx.headlines, ID, and back to mx. “It’s a Livin’ Thing” by ELO at
0818, “Promises Promises” by Naked Eyes at 0824, then jingle ID.
“Maggie Mae” by Rod Stewart at 0839. There's a video of my reception at
 https://youtu.be/yyMHm63iRpA (6 Nov.)

6070 GERMANY Word of Deliverance (via Channel 292) Rel. pgm
w/M and W hosts in EG at 0713 w/Vatican already off. A very slight het
from CFRX 14 hz below. (6 Nov.)

6286.82 PIRATE (EURPOE) R. Focus Int. 0717 M anncr and into
“Owner of a Lonely Heart” by Yes. 0746 end of “Love is the Drug” by
Roxy Music. 0759 sounded like a quick ment of Focus starting an anmnt.
0801 “In the Light” by Led Zeppelin. Pretty nice peak at 0806 and 0808,
and DJ anmnt at 0809 w/ment of Terry Philips coming up and asked
listeners if they came across Gary Stevens. 0810 “Barracuda” by Heart.
Still audible at 0901 but gradually fading. Very fady. A video of the
reception can be found using this link https://youtu.be/Qdn-7FXyN64 (6
Nov.)

9680 ZAMBIA V.O. Hope Africa End of rel. pgm, then complete
f/out, and cont. contact info for pgm at 0729. Quickly came up nicely
for info on Words of Hope Ministry, then into “Unshackled” pgm, and
f/out again. (6 Nov.)

5025 Rebelde was off from start to at least 0713, but was there at 0725.
Had hoped it would stay off for Quillabamba.

6257.02 PIRATE (EUROPE) R. Black Arrow Signal on at 0813:55,
and immediately into more current Pop mx. 0816:10 tuned the freq down 2
khz, up 2 khz, and settled on

3310 BOLIVIA R. Mosoj Chaski 1007 pleasant camposino mx, 1010 W
anncr on in Quechua w/ment of Cochabamba and provincial. Back to mx at 1011.
1016 canned anmnt by alternating M and W ending w/singing “…el Corazon”. Then
another canned anmnt by same M and W alternating. Would have been quite
readable if not for the static QRN. (14 March)

1610 CANADA CHRN, R. Humsafar (pres.) Surprised to find strong
Hindi mx at 0203 totally in the clear of R. Voces Latinas. Went into another

back. (15 March)

Manaus. Some singing, TC, and ment of programa. ZY Pops. 0933 full canned ID

ment of Amazonas. ID of several “Alvorada”s w/ment of Amazonia, then intro and
pgm “Journal Alvorada”. One of the best signals hrd from them on a good ZY
morning. (16 March)

4985.01 BRAZIL R. Brasil Central 0919 Lively ZY Pops w/usual RTTY on
each side. 0922 M anncr in PT, mx briefly, and more tlk, and back to mx at
0924. Canned ID by M at 0932, another anmnt or 2, then back to mx at 0934.
Nothing on 11815. (16 March)

3289.98 GUYANA V.O. Guyana 0936 extremely low audio w/mx. Seems to be
having trouble w/their audio lvls or modulation lately. (16 March)

6134.82 BOLIVIA R. Santa Cruz 0949 nice signal w/couple canned IDs and
into LA ballad. Slight het from obvious Aparecida on 6135.21. (16 March)

0957 tlk by M sounding like nx w/ment of Amazonas and Manaus. Ad block
1000-1002, 1 w/website and 1 w/phone, and also an official ID, pgm promo, then
M returned. Good. (16 March)

4835 AUSTRALIA ABC Local Radio, Alice Spring 0930 usual fanfare
and into nx by W. Later, 0957 “Smooth Operator” by Sade. 1001 song anmnt by
M, ment of upcoming song, ment of ABC, feature presented by W at 1003. Fair
and not much QRM from WWCR. (16 March)

4885.02 BRAZIL R. Clube do Para 1000 complete ID by M, brief anmnt,
time ticks, canned anmnt, then “Bom Dia” followed by “Bom dia Para, bom dia
Belem”. Good signal but CODAR QRM and static QRN. (16 March)

6160.03 BRAZIL R. Rio Mar Surprised to find CKZN inaudible. Rio Mar
not on by 0951, but was found later at 1007 w/soft PT rel. vcl songs. Caught
the usual shouted ID by M at 1025:10, and back to mx. Lucky to ID as it was
fading. (16 March)

1580.13 USA WWDN, Danville VA 2356 found a het w/this way off-freq once
again playing “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” by U2, then “Life in

1630 USA WQHY657, Williamsville, NY (next to the NY State Thruway
Toll Plaza Canopy, Mi. Post 419.7) ID by W “…WQHY657 broadcasting on 16-30 AM,
Buffalo. OK, its traffic time…” at 2357 and weather conditions w/ment of
Buffalo. Coming up above WRDW. 183.4 miles exactly from xmtr ant to rx (Delta
Loop) ant. Not a bad catch at 10 watts. (16 March)

9275.03 USA WMLK 1834 preaching by M, but just not strong enough to be
audible. Thought they were long gone. Tnx Ralph Perry tip. Obviously in the
dead zone here. (17 March)

9514.98 BRAZIL R. Marumby Caught the usual singing jingle ID at t/in
around 2345, then apparent continuation of nx pgm w/M and W in PT. Suddenly
off in mid-sentence at 2351:07. Nice signal and other 31mb ZYs noted same
time; 9819.276 Novo de Julho, 9724.898 RB2, 9664.937, Voz Missionaria, 9645.395
Bandeirantes, and 9629.937 Aparecida. (17 March)

5910 SOUTH AFRICA R. Lead Africa (via Meyerton) Found w/M vcl at
0256 for abt 15 sec. then OC. Don’t think it was Alcaravan going off as the
signal never disappeared. Audio finally up at 0304 w/Afro Rap mx, then tlk by
M in vern. starting at 0307 w/ments of Uganda and possibly “government”.
Would’ve been OK but just massive slop QRM from S9+50 WHRI on 5920. (18 March)

3375.07 BRAZIL R. Municipal 1000 ad block in progress at t/in, last
ending in “…Sao Gabriel da Cachoeira”, and full canned ID by M. Of course
there was a nice static crash right over the “Municipal”. Went into a song
that sounded like a PT version of “Love is All Around You” by The Troggs.
Tremendous signal this morning. (21 March)

4747.6PERU R. Huanta Dos Mil 1028 feature w/long actuality from a

[HCDX] Latest loggings from Townsville, Queensland

2004-08-25 Thread Craig Edwards
Hi Guys

Well the wife is now back in Townsville and now our move from South Australia to
Queensland is complete.

Here are the logs from the last couple of 'wife-not-here-yet' weeks.

All heard at home with Drake SPR4 and 4 EWE's.

580 0909 KJAL Pago Pago, American Samoa. Poor here in presume Samoan with
non-stop religious like commentary but a tough one due to big splatter from NBC 585 at
0909. Mind you its nice to say that PNG is a pest when usually it is a little DX gem.
Noted a week later at better level 1010 with EE religious pgm and US network promo's.
(CE)

590 1000 KSSK Honolulu, HI. Poor in the splatter mess from 585 and 594 with
rock music here (CE)

603 1346 HLSA Seoul, South Korea. Good here with KK but suffering from ABC
splash from 612, occasional fade up of other unid Asians (CE)

610 1505 Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Fair with female talk in VV (CE)

612 0935 KUAM Agana, Guam. Good opening to Pacific this evening with KGUM
567 and KJAL 580 best ever heard. Funky islands tunes and adaptations of well known
CW songs, eg 'Paper Roses' (CE)

612 1402 DYHP Cebu City, Philippines. Fair briefly under ABC with animated
FA then 'R M N' ID jingles (CE)

621 1938 DXDC Davao City, Philippines. Fair here despite local 50kW
Townsville monster on 630 kHz. Religious service then series of slick jingles IDs as
RMN (CE)
