[HCDX] News on ERT news

2022-10-12 Thread Zacharias Liangas via Hard-Core-DX

ERt NEWS

Ert newsstarted around  3 weeks after the Ukrainewar started in the air
replacing Deutsche Welle the German satellite TV programaired terrestrially
many years ago.

ThisTV program had many changes in its schedule but always using the low
resolutioneven if the program more recently used a HD format design. BY this I
mean that theyadded banner in the bottom and top news bar in the right pane
reducing the visualpart to 75-80% .

3 weeksago they upgraded the ‘transponders’  sothat Ert News has a new house
but resolution is still the same! This was wellcriticized by some news media
sites.

Thereis also another mysterious problem. After retuning my  TV , ERT1HD and ERT
NEWS are interchanged intheir TV channel numbers. Sometimes the news channel is
hidden!

TodayI changed the TV cable restoring reception. I sorted the channels and
after awhile ERT news was set itself to number 65.  It was in number 2 after
ERT1 HD..

The BoD of the Unions express their categorical protest at the

of"flexibility" which threatens:

to catalyze the narrow core oflabor relations and rights leading to job
cuts and mass layoffs,

right of insurance to the"counted" employees and consequently a dramatic
reduction of income.

The BoD of the Federations and all the employees in the Press

This seems to be their official schedule. So this does not necessarily
mean the complete reactivation of 6035kHz.
Original Chinese reporter of this information did not confirm all the
schedule was on 6035kHz.

According to the Febr 15 edition of Chinese broadcasting information

the schedule of Yunnan International Radio on 6035 kHz at the date

is now only 1 hour per day, most of the program (17.5 hours per day)
is a relay of FM99, Voice of Shangrila, the domestic broadcasting

Does this mean, that they would have reactivated 6035 kHz on 15
February? They have been very irregular for some months.

Thank you. I can detect a carrier here at 1615 and heard with clear
signal via Hong Kong remote receiver, so they probably look like being
more regular than in the recent month.

[HCDX] News about the greek TV stations and ERT

2015-04-04 Thread Zacharias Liangas
Please reply to zlian...@yahoo.com and BUY my book Malaysia 25 Years Survey
http://goo.gl/Pi87gp

News about the greek TV stations and ERT

The new government is now requiring from the TV broadcasters to pay of 25
million Eu for their usage of the digital UHF spectrum excluding the Nova
multi channel TV subscription service This has been announced on 2th
This amount refers to years between 2012and 15
As for the moment the response from the broadcaster association , advised that
they paid from the arbitrary adverts of the elections in that period

Subject 2 : ERT workers to be back : The bill has been submitted on 2-4 to the
parliament together with two more the president of the parliament requested
the bills to be separated one per one and is supposed to be discussed after the
orthodox Easter ie after 13th of April

-
Greece: The resurrection of ERT
http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/listeningpost/2015/04/challenging-coverage-conflict-yemen-150404092029886.html
Nearly two years ago, the Greek government shutdown the country's state
broadcaster ERT in what it claimed was an austerity measure. However, many
journalists at the channel called the move political.
They refused to leave the headquarters in Athens and kept broadcasting from the
building without pay. The occupation became symbolic in the fight against
austerity which in part explains why the newly elected government, Syriza –
which
won on an anti-austerity campaign – has been so determined to get the channel
back on air.
Critics say that the news government was in too much of a hurry and have
questioned its draft bill to reinstate ERT, saying that it fails to address
previous issues. There is also a legitimate concern over how Syriza plans to
fund
the state broadcaster and whether the license fee will be enough to rehire the
former employees and leave the channel with enough to produce worthwhile
content.

Friday, April 3, 2015
Discussion of ERT relaunch legislation to start Tuesday
The Greek Parliament’s public administration committee will on Tuesday begin
discussing the draft legislation the government submitted to the House this week
foreseeing the reopening of public broadcaster ERT.
http://greece.greekreporter.com/2015/04/03/greek-govt-tables-bill-to-reopen-ert/

Greek Gov’t Tables Bill to Reopen ERT
http://greece.greekreporter.com/2015/04/03/greek-govt-tables-bill-to-reopen-ert/

A bill paving the way for the reopening of Greek public broadcaster ERT was
tabled by the government on April 1. The draft law was tabled after an Athens
court ruled that some 3,000 ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) employees
were fired illegally in 2013. The court also decided that the 198 former
employees who appealed against their dismissals should be rehired immediately.
The court’s decision comes in complete contrast to the country’s highest
administrative court, the Council of State, which found the government was
within
its rights to close the broadcaster and fire its staff.

On June 11, 2013, the Greek government announced ERT would close and all its
employees would be fired. The Greek public broadcaster was dissolved by a Common
Ministerial Decision as amended by an urgent government legislative act. Despite
running a budget surplus on income from a license fee outside the state budget,
in a televised statement, the at the time minister responsible for media and New
Democracy, PASOK and Democratic Left (DIMAR) coalition government spokesperson
Simos Kedikoglou, characterized ERT as a “haven of waste” that cost more and had
fewer viewers than private stations. “The Greek people are paying for ERT, which
has three times, even eight times, as much staff as it needs” he said, adding
that the government was sacrificing one of the public sector’s “sacred cows.”

Later in the evening, riot police forced their way into the transmitting
stations
and all ERT transmitters were closed down. Using satellite offices and other
spaces that had not been closed down, ERT journalists continued to broadcast to
the Internet.

ERT consisted of five TV channels — ET-1, NET, ET-3, ERT World and ERT-HD — as
well as seven radio stations in Athens, three in Thessaloniki, 19 peripheral
radio stations across the country, a symphonic orchestra and one of modern music
as well as a choir. It also had magazines, and a website www.ert.gr, digital
archives, web TV at www.ert.gr/webtv, some 2,324 regular employees and 792
provisional workers.

[HCDX] News by Radio Cochiguaz

2009-02-22 Thread Arnaldo

Dear Friends,
We will inform/update you with our activities and hopes we are not bother
you. We are to go into the last week of February, our anniversary month.
Because of this we will be very active this days until the end of the month.
We can't guarantee that we will be on every day, but the possibility is
there. Check the frequency from time to time, 6307 kHz between 22 and 07
UTC. It is a true DX to catch our signals as we these days are using only 20
W (80 W PEP). We depend very much of good conditions, something that haven't
been present these days it seems..

All the best from

 Amigos!
Queremos mantenerles informado sobre nuestra actividad por eso este
mail y esperamos no molestarlos. Estamos por entrar en la ultima semana del
mes de Febrero, nuestro mes aniversario. Por tal motivo estaremos
frecuentemente en el aire esta semana, hasta finalizar el mes. No aseguramos

[HCDX] News from the IRCA/NRC Joint Broadcast Test Committee

2007-09-22 Thread Jim Pogue
KWWN 1100 kHz Las Vegas, NV

Bill Croghan, WBØKSW, Chief Engineer for Lotus Broadcasting of Las
Vegas tells us the new KWWN has been on the air now for about three days as
of Sept. 21, running unmodulated carrier (except for ID’s) often at less
than 1 KW for tuning and testing.

“It has been many short tests mostly at the lower power levels, but we
have run the day pattern at the full 20 KW,” he relates. “As you might
imagine, a 20 KW two tower day pattern wasn’t to difficult, but the 2 KW
night pattern with four towers, on the next property over from two diplexed
1 KW stations located near in frequency, has been a challenge. We expect to
start running longer tests, still primarily unmodulated, next week and the
week after and hopefully will ask the FCC for Program test authority in the
next two weeks. After receiving that, we will probably start sending the
Deportes, Hispanic ESPN programming with ID's at the top of the hour for
KWWN. It’s a long drawn out process that must proceed at the FCC required
rate and through the hoops they mandate. I'll let you know when we start
doing more.”

Once they are through the testing phase, Bill has promised a full
fledged DX Test over KWWN. If you hear them testing before then, you can
send your reception reports to: Lotus Broadcasting, c/o Bill Croghan, 8755
W. Flamingo Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89147.

KCKN 1020 kHz Roswell, NM

Jerry Kiefer has promised us a DX Test (maybe 2) from his station.
Right now it looks like early November.
“I’ll have an exact date shortly, sometime the first week or two of
November on a Sunday night to get some good winter skywave,” Jerry said in a
recent e-mail.

Our thanks go to retired BTC Coordinator Les Rayburn for getting the
wheels turning on these two tests. We’ll provide more information when the
details are nailed down.

RNZI 'Sentimental Journey' documentary

VOA Hicksville NY
[1] Adrian Peterson's latest column visits the giant VOA transmitting
facility at Hicksville, Long Island NY. Originally built by Press
Wireless International, the site often relayed local WOR-AM New York
City and was well heard across the Pacific. Included in the story are
images of a 1940 QSL card from W2XGB Hicksville, and one of
the 40kW transmitters later used to broadcast VOA, AFRS, NBC and
Mutual networks and WLW-AM Cincinnati OH programs around the world.

Emil Voigt 2KY Sydney #1
[2] Emil Voigt 2KY #1 is the first of a five part series tracing the
life of the founder of 2KY Sydney, the world's first trade union
radio station. Written by his granddaughter, the series reveals a
socialist idealist, political organizer, radio manager, engineer and
Olympic Gold champion who moved between England, Australia and the
USA in the first 25 years of the 20th century. In Part #1, his
athletics career and his 1908 London Olympics gold medal for the 5
Mile event.

Emil Voigt 2KY Sydney #2
[3] Emil Voigt 2KY #2 continues the story with his involvement with
the socialist Clarion Movement in England, connections with Bernard
Shaw and HG Wells, and Emil's move to Australia where he joined the
NSW Labor Council. In 1923, he moved to Santa Monica CA and became
fascinated with how radio was being used in the USA. He planned his
return to Australia two years later, anxious to persuade union bosses
to open their own radio station in Sydney.

Diggers On Air

'Diggers on Air' a guide to nearly 50 radio stations operated by the
Australian military towards the end of WWII across the SW Pacific, SE

promote the station in 1938; and more images from our new series of
'Long Lost Radio Images'.

[HCDX] News from the Caribbean

2004-12-20 Thread Stig Hartvig Nielsen

There have been plenty of new radio developments in the Caribbean
recently. Mostly on FM - and the situation is reflected in the new 2005
edition of the World Radio TV Handbook. Here are some details for the MW
situation in the Caribbean - and one short wave item about Greenland:

ANGUILLA

Radio Anguilla left 1505 kHz in November 1999 (as far as I remember) and
up till 2003 the station still had plans about reactivating this
frequency. These plans have now been given up, and the station has no
plans of using medium wave again. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH 2005)

ANTIGUA BARBUDA

The island of Barbuda now has its own radio station. It's called
'Abundant Life Radio' and operates on FM in Barbuda as well as the main
island Antigua. The station originally had plans for a medium wave
transmitter in Barbuda, but chose satellite instead which - according to
station mgr. Clifton Francois is much better. However he stresses that
the station has not fully given up on MW. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for
WRTH 2005)

Caribbean Radio Lighthouse has a new schedule on 1160 kHz: 0925-0145
UTC. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH 2005)

Radio ZDK is still inactive on 1100 kHz. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH
2005)

BERMUDA

VSB2 on 1280 kHz is carrying Bible Broadcasting Network 24h a day. The
frequency of 1160 kHz is used for special events and otherwise relay BBC
World Service. On 1450 kHz is '1450 AM Gold' to be found. Power is 1 kW
on these 3 frequencies run by De Fontes Broadcasting Co. Ltd. (Stig
Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH 2005)

DOMINICA

Voice of Life - run be Gospel Broadcasting Corporation - stopped
broadcasting on 740 kHz in the spring of 2004. On September 4th 2004
Voice of Life also left their FM frequencies and closed down the entire
station after 28 years of operation. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH
2005)

JAMAICA

RJR94 now on reduced power: 1.5 kW on 550, 580, 700 and 770 kHz - while
720 kHz remains on full power 10 kW. All transmitters are on the air 24
hours a day. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH 2005)

ST. LUCIA

Radio St. Lucia is inactive on 660 kHz. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH
2005)

ST. VINCENT

NBC Radio stopped broadcasting on 705 kHz in April 2002 - but is now
planning to return to medium wave from the beginning of 2005 from a new
transmitter site. The frequency will be changed to either 700 or 710 kHz
due to the fact that many receivers will not tune to a split channel
like 705 kHz. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH 2005)

And finally this one - from well outside the Caribbean area:

GREENLAND

Although it apparently never has been reported outside Greenland, KNR
continues to use short wave from Tasiilaq on the Greenlandic east coast.
The frequency is 3815 kHz (USB) and the current schedule is: 1500-1615
and 2100-2215 UTC. The power is 200 W and the aerial used in an
omni-directional cage aerial. (Stig Hartvig Nielsen for WRTH 2005)

[HCDX] News Bulletin for Radio Amateurs and Short Wave listeners

2004-10-28 Thread Mike Terry
Every week the RSGB produces a News Bulletin for Radio Amateurs and Short
Wave listeners. They are read live on Sundays (usually) by a team of readers
throughout the UK on HF, VHF and above. The text is available on the RSGB
Site http://www.rsgb.org/ .

This service in Real Audio allows you to hear the news at any time and even
to download the files for future use. Many countries including the US,
Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand as well as Europe and the UK
take part or whole bulletins for retransmission on their own services.

For the last 3 years I have been reading these bulletins in Real Audio which
has made them more widely heard than before. There have even been extracts
on HCJB from Ecuador! Feel free to re-broadcast outside the UK, but as a
courtesy please email to let us know at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bulletins had also been re-broadcast by UK Internet Gateway Operators over
radio links but the RA have withdrawn permission (July2002) to review the
licensing implications of this.

[HCDX] News and question

2004-08-05 Thread bjorn fransson
Hi all,
Yesterday night I heard Radio Huanta 2000, Peru on the new frequency of
4751.8 with very good reception. I also heard Radio El Buen Pastor, Ecuador
on 4815 and Radio Clube Varginha, Brasil on 3245.2, all around 23.00-00.00
and later.
Question: On August 8th I heard a French speaking test, a repeated message
for radio amateurs (???) on 3381U kHz at 23.00- They talked about radio
amateurs and all the time said all the months in French. Cette emision est
destiné regard des amateurs or similar... Help!

[HCDX] News about Voice of New Sudan

2004-08-02 Thread Jari Savolainen
On 2 Aug I got a brief e-mail from the engineer contracted to
set up the shortwave transmitter of the Voice of New Sudan in
Southern Sudan. He was in Nairobi on his way back home to US.
There was more technical problems, they had managed to do
some testing (9310) with modulation during three days with
about 7kW before they got hit by a lightning last Sunday.
They are down until they get some capacitors. The engineer will
return to Sudan in a few weeks.
The frequency will possibly be shifted higher, to 9485, as most of the
receivers in the region will not tune below 9400.
I'll keep DX-community updated as I get more info.

Returned to Finland a few days ago from a two-week assignment in Qatar,
reporting from CENTCOM briefings etc for YLE TV Radio. Pretty busy all
the time, so I barely had time to use a Sangean 909 which I bought just
before departure. No new discoveries on the dial, BUT Camp as-Sayliyah
proved to be the right place to find out more about Information Radio
and Commando Solo: Where do the transmissions on different frequencies
really come from? Where are the aircraft based? And how many are they?
When and how were the transmissions extended - and how much of it was
revealed in the Coalition press briefings? And the rest of the story.

2003-04-02 Thread Luigi Perez

Well known local Radio and TV Announcer and Music
Collector Mr. Gilbert Mamery died a few days ago in his hometown Mayaguez Puerto
Ricoas a result ofhart failure. At the time of his death, Mr. Mamery
was77 years old.

He will be remembered for his huge contribution to
radio in Puerto Rico, for airing his program La Discoteca del Recuerdo, a
program devoted to popular music where he kept alive music for the worlds best
known singers both male female.

His program had a record for being on the air for
more than 40 years.

Mamery was also known for having maybe one of the
largest collection (if not the largest) in Puerto Rico of audio clips,
records, videos etc of world known singers like Libertad Lamarque, Pedro Vargas,
Rafael Hernandez, Bobby Capo, Argentina's Carlos Gardel just to mention a
few.

For more information and a complete detailed

[HCDX] News about 549kHz AM from Ireland

2003-02-12 Thread Christopher McCallion
All independent Irish re-broadcasts of UCB and Cross
Rhythms are to end -possibly within months.

Irish Christian Broadcasters (ICB) who are responsible
for retransmitting various UK Christian radio stations
such as UCB and Cross Rhythms in Ireland, have decided
to permanently cease such re-broadcasts. They are now
in the process of building their own high-tech studios
and hope to be able to put their own programmes on air
24 hours a day as soon as possible (-it is possible
however that ICB may purchase some programming from UK
broadcasters once licenced). The new station will be
similar to the UCB network in it's format (but still
independent) though based in Ireland and purely for
and about Ireland. Two radio stations are planned: The
first one will be a family Christian radio station
similar to the old UCB Europe, consisting of Adult
Contemporary Christian Music/Christian Inspirational
music especially that originating from Irish artists,
coverage of Irish Christian events and activities,
plus Christian news, information, encouragement and
teaching with a particular focus on that from the
Irish churches. The second station will be Ireland's
own answer to Cross Rhythms in the UK.

ICB know the potential legal problems that these
relays cause for the Christian radio stations in the
UK that they re-broadcast and they are committed to
replacing these re-broadcasts with their own
programming as soon as it is financially and
practically possible to do so. It is also now clear
that they would need to do this in order to have any
hope of obtaining any sort of terrestrial licence in
Ireland.

For more information about these broadcasts click this
link to this BRAND NEW official website- as you will
see it is NOT UCB who run it nor will UCB, Cross
Rhythms or Transworld Radio continue to be
