You meant to say It's not free, but it's cheap, right? Does it have a boot-time scan like avast? Thane Sherrington [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: = At 11:52 AM 23/12/2006, Anthony Q. It seems to interrupt the boot process (before windows loads) and scans all drives, sort of like a command-line scan prior to windows taking over the PC. I didn't spend much time reading it though, I just let it do it.

Re: [H] Free or Cheap AV Software
I would suggest AVG. It has a boot time scan, is free, and, I think the best of many, paid ones included. http://free.grisoft.com/softw/70free/setup/avg75free_432a861.exe Jeff - Original Message - From: Anthony Q. [H] MSDN Library, August 06
Hey, I had downloaded the three images for this library a while back. I was trying to install it on my system. But I keep getting stuck during the install because it cannot read \Program Files\MSDN\2006AUG\1033\shared.hxs. I burned new disks from the original images and I still get problems. Has anyone been able to install this version of the library? I tried to copy the CD to the HD and install from there, but it will still not copy the file. If any of you have installed it, could you possibly send me a copy of this file? Also, I can not find any of the MSDN Library downloads at MS. It was my understanding that were going to make the MSDN Library releases public now. Did this change? Thanks, Bobby
RE: [H] MSDN Library, August 06 - SOLVED
I used Nero ImageDrive to mount the images, copied all of the files to one directory and installed from there. So no need for anyone to send me the file. But still, does anyone know if MS is now not allowing us non-MSDN members to download the MSDN Libraries after they allowed us to? I'd like to trade questions offline/backchannel. The best booster I have found for clean installs of Windows 98 SE and Millennium is the Security Update CD from Microsoft dated February, 2004. I run this comprehensive automatic update (comparable to Auto Patcher for Windows XP) and then I proceed to download the rest of the updates from Microsoft. It would take a very long time to download all of the updates for 98SE, Me or XP from Microsoft. I am very thankful for boosters such as these I have mentioned. Just to give you an idea of how extensive the updates are for XP, I have about 2 GB of space used on Drive C after I install XP. After I update it I have around 7 GB of space used on Drive C. This is relative, of course. I would guess that 98SE uses about 500 MB freshly installed and around 700 MB after being updated and Millennium around 700 MB when freshly installed and around 1.2 GB after being updated. It seems the space required for all of the updates is far more space than is required for the initial install. Chuck
