good solid, no extra feature router.

Still running a FVS318 8 port myself with a spare in the pile along with a
newer 4 port RP614 someone just gave me who went WIFY

Wish I could goto 1000 base with all the crap on my server. ( image files and
such) some day. Actually my MB has the NIC, I just need the card and router. :'(

Keep the router, add a GigE switch, and as many PCI/PCI-E cards as you need.

That you uplink to the router is 100mbit won't matter at all, as your
internet connect is well below that. You will just have 7 unused ports
on the router (less, if you have 100Mbit devices that you don't mind
putting behind a single 100Mbit port, such as network printers, etc).

5 Port (4 usable, due to uplink to your router):

I personally like the realtek 8169 (many will call me crazy...) for PCI
nics:

Two decent PCI-E options (marvel and realtek, I have used the Marvel,
but it can get twitchy under link from time to time, have not touched
the Realtek yet):

The old (NAT only) rt-314 router is still alive and well. After many hours of peeking
and poking, it is now fully happy and ready for spare work should my current
router takes a powder.

Hey Al-

No, it's not what I need but thanks very much for the
offer.

I'm going to be real surprised if none of us have just
one D4KVE series
processor collecting dust somewhere. =)

I have the this for your consideration:

Believe it should be an AMD Thunderbird 1.2GHz.

Re: [H] MP3 Tag Informaton in XP

3 things to help you along.

Use this to increase the BagMRU limit to 8000 folders.
BagMRU is where the view
settings are cached for the Most Recently Used
folders:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/bags8000.reg

This VBS lets you set the Explorer columns for a given
folder sets sub-folders
to same settings:

Folder View Master

Great, free audio file manager:

view. It also
gives the ability to change 'properties'. Great for
checking if the
tags are up to snuff after ripping.

 HOWEVER

This doesn't seem to be consistent. Sometimes it's
done
automagically, other times the folder will have only
MP3s, but all you
get is file info. Now I can go in by hand and
change that by adding
and deleting columns, but that takes a long time to
do. Is there any
way of either 1) Having it always give me tag info
or 2) being able to
change it in one shot rather than have to diddle
with columns?

I haven't looked closely at it yet, but just having
that ability to
change tags outside of my Audio Collection program
would be a sweet
 thing

 ThanksSteve

ROTHFLMAO!!! Although I know not why! Yes, the BIL has been living large

Good news! The bone pile is now exhausted! LOL!
Except for what he knows not what to do with. :)
Understand. A 1200M TBird will not do it.

Re: [H] Need AMD XP Sempron CPU

2008-02-19 Thread Greg Sevart
I was considering moving to X48 in the coming weeks in anticipation of a
45nm quad-core upgrade (currently running a 65nm quad-core part at 3.2GHz on
P35), but I think I'm going to hold off on the mobo move until P45. P45
sports ICH10R, which supposedly has 10GbE, and likely will do a better job
overclocking the 45nm QC's. It's due out in June.

The real problem is that the new Yorkfield series use a 1333QDR FSB, meaning
that the multipliers are lower than the current Kentsfield. That means I'll
need something likely capable of 475MHz+ FSB 24/7...that isn't P35 or X38,
and likely not X48. P45 I think gives me the best chance at a high FSB to
push to 4GHz. :)

I wouldn't touch 780i with a 20 foot pole.

Greg
