[H] mac hard disk cloner

2008-09-07 Thread Naushad Zulfiqar
My wife's macbook hard disk (120GB) is getting full. In my hand right now I
have a 250GB hard disk waiting to be installed, but I haven't the slightest
clue on how to clone the hard disk.
On a PC, I would normally use Ghost or Acronis True Image.

Would CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner) work the same way on a MAC?

I think SuperDuper will do what you want.

If it's an Intel Mac, odds are the Acronis boot CD of Disk Director or True Image
will work on it.

Will EFI boot something like that?

Try this: right-click on the message, select View Source.
Select the headers, copy, then paste into a reply here.

I know I have done this in W98, but how do you display the full
headers in Vista? I will do it once I figure it out or
someone
tells me.

Thanks, Harvey

If you want to rule out the possibility that it is coming from
your own machine, post the full headers of one of those weird
emails. I can analyze it for the actual origin.

It is an intel mac.

I do have a licensed copy of trueimage and will try that first.

I doubt it will work though. But I hope I am wrong, so I don't have to fork
out $25 for Super Duper. :)

Dunno, but it's worth a try. For that matter there is a way to do it through boot
camp I'm sure.

Stupid Apple making a 99.99% PC, typical. Which reminds me, when is Jobs getting his
head out of his ass releasing OSX for the quality PC hardware, hehe

[H] Phenom X3

2008-09-07 Thread Naushad Zulfiqar
Has anyone used a Phenom X3?
I am thinking of replacing my aging MSI Mega 180 SFF (Athlon XP 2400) with
something newer.

Right now, I'm looking at either the Asus EEE BOX, or building myself a
Phenom X3 based system.

I know everyone will say that a C2D is a better arch and that it's probably
faster, but I would really like to try out the new Phenoms. I have a C2D
machine at home, and love it. I just want to be a bit different and try out
a X3. Seeing 3 cores in task manager is probably worth the 100 dollars they
are asking for a Phenom X3 8450 :).

I know that for Vista and XP you need a patch from MS so that it detects odd
numbered cores, but what about UBUNTU? Will it detect and utilize all 3
cores?

They're not trying to make a PC, they made a Mac with an Intel CPU.

Hey Ben,
I'm glad to reply that SuperDuper! worked like a charm.

In fact I am writing this e-mail from the new Toshiba 250GB Hard Disk.

The Previous 120GB was a Seagate.

Everything seems to be working fine and the cloning procedure was actually
quite easy and painless.

Thanks a bunch man!!

You're a life saver!
