Re: [H] FF link customization?
Ben, Well no, not exactly, but in the bad old IE days, IE would allow whatever favicon.ico to be used for a new link initially, but then after a period of time IE would just swap the favicon with the generic IE icon. This always made me grumble. Perhaps this happened when I cleared my IE files each evening on the way to bed... :) So, I had been collecting nice favicons for many years (have 80 now) and keep them in the the c:\winnt\system32\icons\ directory (and a few backup areas on the lan). This let me "customize" my links to what I wanted them to look like. They gave me a graphic reference to where I wanted to go. The few choices that IE allowed were lame; and, contained in a dot-dll file. I don't know how to manipulate a dot-dll file and really don't want to know. As I said, no biggy; just wondered. It almost looks like FF may do this customize auto-magically because several of my old links have changed the x.ico associated to the link/bookmark! This ain't a biggie, and, yes, so far FF is much nicer than IE! Lighter footprint, faster; what's not to like. To bad I have forgotten all my old Netscape knowledge :) Best, Duncan
