Just a thought, but you might try looking in your system event log to  
see if there's anything weird going on there. I wonder if it could a  
BSOD crash that automatically reboots the computer (though I guess  
then at the next login you should get one of those windows-recovered- 
from-a-crash messages)

occasionally get those, did have a midi error ( hw not supported) and have 
turned it off in the bios.

[H] another WEIRD Vista bug

This one new, Vista Ultimate on older HW but has run fine for quite some time. 
Has recently started rebooting every night at 3 AM like clockwork, Auto Updates 
are turned OFF.

Anyone seen this bug ?
I am about to go back to XP on this system, Vista has a couple of nice features 
but the irritants out weigh the +'s. :-)

Run media center?  It has this optimize function that I think is disabled
by default that resets the media center services at around that time and so
in theory could reboot the box.

BIOS/CMOS setting? Not that I can't believe this would be Vista, but
something else to look at. Not a Vistard, so I can't really help ya.
