seem.

You could manage a Zen with most anything including iTunes FWIW.

iTunes, even outside of the scope of my iPod is great for managing my

I can appreciate why other people may not like it. It's too easy to use.

requires iTunes for lots of stuff).

And the reports are that WMP 12 is going to have some significant

I just got a Zen X-Fi 16gb, works well, plug n play, drag n drop device
recognition, don't need to install and use any software or evn choose to use
Windows Media Player.

better than the ipods I've used lately, I just hate what itunes has turned
into.

I mean, why would I not care to play in Apple's universe? I have an
iPhone, the iTunes software plays nice with it. It's easy to use. Does a
damn good job of organizing my media, makes tagging very easy, makes
ripping a CD very easy, and generally is so simple even my wife and her
parents can use it.

As for it being bloated, well, again it only runs if I am listening to a
MP3 or syncing my phone. I have 4GB of RAM in my Macbook Pro, and to be
honest it ran just as good when I had 2GB in it, and also just as good
as when I was running it in Windows.

As for the Safari on Windows fiasco, sure, I'll give you that but if
we're just talking about our personal media player user experience, it's
not bad at all.

iTunes has gotten worse and more bloated over the years. And Apple is
adopting some microsoft tactics like auto-selecting Safari for install
everytime the little iTunes updater pops up.

Yep. iTunes is good with mp3s and most other non-DRM music formats (not
sure about FLAC). But it won't work with DRM'd wma files.

My collection is almost 100% mp3s and I use iTunes, works pretty well for
me.
