Well on DVD-V's I can Disc Dr. works great though I can see where it would make it harder to recover from if it did not work. It leaves a uniform texture pattern, certainly not smooth & glassy. I've had several DVD-V's with radial scratches that simply would not play, could not be cleaned/polished to play, and the Disc Dr. recovered them nicely.
