Drama, and Music.

Position Focus: Reporting to the Director of the Fortunoff Video Archive for 
Holocaust Testimonies, the archivist will make a significant contribution to 
many of the Archive's core research, outreach and public service activities, as 
well as participate in a number of ongoing projects related to migration and 
enhancement of the Archive's metadata and digital infrastructure.

These projects will include the management of an effort to standardize 
time-coded testimony indexes using the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer 
(OHMS), participation in a team working to migrate collection metadata to 
ArchivesSpace, and an ongoing effort to perform quality control on the 
Archive's digital assets and prepare them for ingest into the Archive's digital 
access system. In all of these projects the archivist will work with Head of 
Digital Information Systems, the Director of FVAHT, and outside vendors to 
develop and document project plans, implement those plans in a timely manner, 
as well as hire, train and supervise student assistants and temporary workers 
when necessary.

In addition to the above project management work, the archivist assists with 
public service functions including providing reference service to researchers, 
coordinates with partner sites and postdoctoral assistants, prepares user 
support documentation, assists with preparing exhibits, conferences, and 
bibliographic instruction sessions, as well as develops outreach materials to 
communicate the goals and progress of the Archive. Participates in the 
formulation of unit and department policy and procedures by assembling 
information and drafting policy and procedure memoranda, and by making 
recommendation of proposed policies and procedures.

The archivist will be expected to participate in Library committees and be 
professionally active.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

* Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent 
accredited degree, with formal training in archival theory and practice. In 
selected instances, a post-graduate degree in museum studies or a related 
discipline in the humanities or social sciences may be substituted for a 
master's degree in library science. Qualified individuals new to the library 
profession are welcome to apply.

* Experience arranging and describing or providing public services for 
manuscript and/or archival collections.

* Experience working collaboratively and independently with varied 
groups within a complex organization and rapidly changing, team environment. 
Ability to readily adapt to change. Ability to exercise initiative, sound 
judgement, creativity and flexibility.

* Ability to manage a variety of tasks and multiple priorities. Logical 
and enthusiastic approach to work; careful attention to detail.

* Demonstrated knowledge of archival theory and practice may be 
substituted for formal training.

* Demonstrated knowledge of current national data content and structure 
standards related to the archival control of collection materials.

* Demonstrated knowledge of archival and library management systems.

* Demonstrated job or school experience with basic preservation and 
conservation standards for archival and manuscript collections.

* Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and interpersonal 
communications and analytical ability.

* Demonstrated record of designing projects and bringing them to a 
conclusion in a timely fashion.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience: Post-graduate degree in Modern 
European History, Holocaust Studies or related discipline; fluency in French, 
Yiddish, German, Hebrew or a Slavic language; experience w/Metadata schemas, 
archival arrangement & description, collection management; experience 
w/ArchivesSpace; familiarity w/videotaping formats & preservation; the use of 
software to edit & repurpose digital moving images.

Le renouveau dont il est question dans ce 23e numéro de Perspectives porte sur 
la pensée juive française au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et au 
cours des années qui suivirent. Trois villes : Strasbourg, Paris, Jérusalem 
furent les foyers actifs de ce renouveau et s’illustrèrent avec des penseurs 
comme Jacob Gordin, Levinas, André Neher ou Manitou-Léon Askénazi. Hommage leur 
est rendu dans la première partie de ce volume tandis que la seconde présente 
quelques-uns de leurs héritiers.
