[ha-Safran] Book Giveaway

2020-01-07 Thread Jacqueline Benefraim via Hasafran
Shalom,

Beth Mills would like to give away copies of her grandmother's poetry book.
Below is a description of book. * Please contact Beth directly at *
bethsmi...@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in obtaining a copy.

*A Life: Khane Bushel Solow 1892-1966*

Khane Bushel Solow began her life in Slonim, Belarus. She emigrated in 1914
and was active as a Yiddish writer in N.Y. City until the 1950’s. Her work
was recently translated into English. Khane wrote movingly of her old home
in Slonim, of her family and their fates, and of the effect the war had on
the whole community of Eastern European Jews. In her later years, she
reflected back on her life and what it was to be a Jewish woman poet in
those days.

[ha-Safran] (no subject)

2020-01-07 Thread Irene Munster via Hasafran
Happy New Year!

Here is an opportunity to present a paper for IFLA 2020, which will be
held in Dublin, Ireland.

Has AJL considered collecting oral histories from its members? It could be
a joint project with librarians working in different countries.

Have a wonderful semester

[ha-Safran] Dicta - free online analytical tools for Hebrew text

2020-01-07 Thread Jacob Richman via Hasafran
Hi Everyone!

Today, I received an email about a site that has
free online analytical tools for Hebrew text

The site is called Dicta and the address is:
http://dicta.org.il/index.html

Tools include:

- Nakdan: Automatically add nikud (vocalization)
to any modern, poetic or classical Hebrew text.

- Search the Bible intuitively

- Citation Finder

- Rabbinic Abbreviation Expander

- Search the Talmud and Mishnah
for words and phrases intuitively,
and other tools

I tried out the Nakdan and the Bible search.
Very Good!

I added the site to my Learn Hebrew hotsites and my Torah Online Hotsites at:
https://jr.co.il/hotsites/hebrew.htm
and
https://jr.co.il/hotsites/torah.htm

If you know of other free, usefull websites related to learning Hebrew or
Torah related sites, please let me know.
Thank you.

Have a good day,
Jacob
