[ha-Safran] Sponsored book available

2020-11-17 Thread Chaim Mazo via Hasafran

We have a limited number of copies of

'Jewish Ethical Wisdom From Pirkei Avot: Modern Commentaries And
Moral Guidance From The Sages' by Rabbi Dov Peretz Elkins

available for Jewish Librarians, without charge, to be placed in
  your library.

This is the only Pirkei Avot edition arranged according to topic
themes. This is the kind of book in which you say to yourself
after reading it, “Why did it take so long for someone to think of
  doing this?”

Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers) has had centuries of
commentaries, but now, for the first time, multiple commentaries
on many of its passages are arranged according to topic. This
feature makes the book much more user friendly. Furthermore, the
wealth of commentaries that Rabbi Elkins has amassed on each
topic, including classical, medieval, and modern voices, makes
what the original Mishnah says all the more relevant and
  meaningful.

Rabbi Elkins organizes Avot in an accessible way and provides a
wealth of sources from both inside and outside of Jewish tradition
to gently guide us to the ethical life.

If you would to receive this book for your library, please send
your details to receive the book.

Copies are limited, and only available for shipping in the USA.

[ha-Safran] A lot of books of Jewish interest are being deaccessioned

2020-11-17 Thread Marion Stein via Hasafran
Hello,

It's time to downsize our library. I have many books in various areas of
Judaica that we no longer wish to keep.

We have books of general Jewish knowledge appropriate for people beginning
their journey into all things Jewish. We have books of special interest in
the area of Jewish Music. We have a set of the Encyclopedia Judaica in the
ORIGINAL beautifully illustrated version. We have G M Foote's Judaism vols
2&3 in the 1930 edition in excellent condition.

It's a real pot pourri. Anyone interested should contact me.

Thanks,

Marion Stein

PS we also have the complete sets of many authors in the 1920's editions
such as Dickens, Tolstoy, Hawthorne, Kipling, etc. This was the library of
the erudite gentleman of that era inherited from a friend. We are ready to
part with them.

If you are interested in any of these, let me know.
