[ha-Safran] New updates at basehasefer.com!

2022-12-27 Thread Taryag Analytics via Hasafran
Possibly the most significant of the current changes is that one can now
quickly directly access all site feature screens via URL links that even allow
the immediate launch of searches, lookups and animations.
Among these links are now three different options of immediately displaying a
pasuk in from a simple sefer/perek/pasuk combo: 1) in the Tanach Viewer 2) in
the Taam Parser 3) as an expanded word-by-word breakdown in the Search Results
window. As a nice benefit, all this facilitates quick references when one wants
to convey information to others without having to give instructions on how to
navigate through the site from its home page. You can take advantage of this in
emails and text messages and also when referencing the site when composing
articles and posts. See more on this and other updates with a connected vort
and blog post at

[ha-Safran] Only in Israel - Learn Hebrew Words from Milk Cartons

2022-12-27 Thread Jacob Richman via Hasafran
Hi Everyone!

Israel marks Hebrew Language Day every year on the birthday of
Eliezer Ben Yehuda, the father of modern spoken Hebrew.
This year, the Hebrew date - 21st of Tevet, falls on January 12, 2023.

In Honor of Hebrew Language Day, The Academy of the Hebrew Language,
together with Tnuva, printed Hebrew word quizzes on the side of milk  cartons.

I went to local supermarkets and took photos of the milk cartons and
I posted them online at:
jr.co.il/only-in-israel/learning-hebrew-words-from-milk-cartons.htm

Additional photos may be added before Hebrew Language Day.

Enjoy the photos!
Please share. Thank you!

Have a good night,
Jacob Richman

[ha-Safran] Your library's accreditation

2022-12-27 Thread S Kurzmann via Hasafran
Dear Colleagues,

Accreditation application season is here! There are many reasons to apply
for accreditation or to apply for the renewal of your library's
accreditation. AJL members have found that the very process of applying,
and not only the receiving of accreditation, helps them in a variety of
ways:

   - The process encourages the librarian to review the library resources,
identify the strengths and weaknesses of the collection, resources and
programs, and plan for library enhancements
   - Accreditation raises the profile of the library in the eyes of the
   organization and community
   - Receiving accreditation reinforces the status of the librarian as a
key professional administering a state-of-the-art facility with much to
   contribute to the parent organization

Application forms can be found on the AJL website: log in, and then go to
the Members Only area. All applications must be submitted by *February 16*,
although you are welcome to submit your application earlier than that.

Together with the other members of the AJL Accreditation Committee, I look
forward to receiving your accreditation/renewal of
accreditation applications and learning more about your libraries.

Chair, AJL Accreditation Committee
