[ha-Safran] Book repair supplies
Hello colleagues, I've been asked to help with the repair of siddurim and chumshim (the Etz Chaim chumashim are taking a beating) at my synagogue. The only supplies I currently have in stock are 3 inch clear book tape and some repair corners. Fortunately, there's another volunteer who has been doing much of the work. She wasn't available when the call came to repair a tikkun that was barely attached to the spine. I did the best I could with limited resources and am now looking for advice. Some questions: Should we continue to just use tape on the spines? Should we buy rolls of laminate to cover the entire damaged book? What other supplies should we get (hinge tape, cloth book tape, etc.)? Thanks so much for your suggestions! [ha-Safran] Book I read- The Lost Book of Bonn/Brianna Labuskes
Just read this book and it didn’t sit well with me. It’s partly about Nazi looted books and the work of Allies, including LOC, to return (and plunder) the books, but that is largely a framework for 3 timelines of connected stories about Germans who were resisters. It centers their stories as heroes, marginalizes Jewish stories and characters, and gives explanations for why many were forced into participating in nazi groups. I’m wondering, if you hear anything about it down the road, can you let me know. Wondering if anyone else has this “read” or maybe I’m an outlier. __ Messages and opinions expressed on Hasafran are those of the individual author and are not necessarily endorsed by the Association of Jewish Libraries (AJL) == Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: Hasafran@lists.osu.edu To join Ha-Safran, update or change your subscription, etc. - click here: https://lists.osu.edu/mailman/listinfo/hasafran Questions, problems, complaints, compliments send to: galro...@osu.edu Ha-Safran Archives: Current: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.osu.edu/maillist.html Earlier Listserver: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.osu.edu/maillist.html AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org -- Hasafran mailing list Hasafran@lists.osu.edu https://lists.osu.edu/mailman/listinfo/hasafran
