[ha-Safran] Tech for hybrid programs

2024-05-29 Thread Linda Roth via Hasafran
Hello Everyone,

The Meyers Library at KI is looking to upgrade some of its technology to
facilitate hybrid programming.

Now, we are cobbling together a chain of (sometimes, truly comical) older
pre-existing tech to present these programs. But there has to be a better
way!

My Executive Director has looked around a bit and has suggested these two
possibilities:

Neat Bar
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://neat.no/bar-pro/__;!!KGKeukY!xMKt61h8nbQKmFgJNjmoRJVDGV_4fVNTS7AuP1CrVOipFonIdaybsWTdB_FLb0MNV2KMqdAV6Ip2JIuRy_lpFAINBQ$

Owl and Owl Bar

What tech set-ups are you all using? Is there one or two pieces of
equipment—available at a reasonable price—that we can purchase that would
enable us to project movies or stream content as well as speakers’
PowerPoint presentations to a hybrid audience?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

[ha-Safran] Looking for a book of ethical questions for high school students

2023-06-16 Thread Linda Roth via Hasafran
Hello Safranim and Safranot,
KI is a Reform synagogue in the Philadelphia suburbs. We have a
supplemental Hebrew High School. The principal and teachers are looking
for a book (or books) on Ethics and of ethical questions and issues for the
High School students to discuss. I do, of course, know of Pirkei Avot.
But I am looking for more and other book(s) geared to the age group.
 Todah Rabah, in advance.

[ha-Safran] Sale of Card Catalog Drawer Units

2022-09-22 Thread Linda Roth via Hasafran
Shalom Safranim,

With enthusiasm (and also with a touch of trepidation), I have
decided to phase out our physical card catalog. The information is all
computerized, with regular on-site and off-site backups, etc. The lovely
wooden card catalog drawer units are now taking up space that might better
be used for more book shelves. We are incorporating a couple of new
collections of books and the shelving units would be put to good use.
We have three units of 5 x 5 drawers, two of them have pull-out
shelves between the second and third row of drawers. The drawer units sit
on wooden tables to lift them up off the floor. I can send pictures, if
that would be helpful.

I want to offer them for sale. But I don’t know what would be a
good price for them? Someone suggested that a furniture salvage company
might take them. But as I said, I would prefer to be able to sell them, if
I can, rather than donate them.

I am not suggesting that any of the Safranim would want to buy
them. But, am I correct in my hope that someone or someplace would be
interested in buying them? What have other folks done with their drawer
units? What price do you think I might expect to get for them?

I thank you in advance for your help.

 *Shanah tovah u’metuka!*

[ha-Safran] Looking to purchase a DVD: A Journey of Spirit, Debbie Friedman

2022-03-04 Thread Linda Roth via Hasafran
Hello people of HaSafran,
This is my first query/listing for this wonderful listserve.
I am looking to purchase (if it is not too expensive...) a copy of the
DVD:
A Journey of Spirit: A New Documentary from Ann Coppel.
copyright 2003/2006 Ann Coppel Productions, LLC
 Color DVD/approx. 75 minutes

A Journey of Spirit is a documentary that tells the story of the remarkable
singer, songwriter and guitarist Debbie Friedman. One of the preeminent
women in contemporary Jewish culture, Debbie has integrated contemporary
melody with Jewish liturgy to transform Jewish sacred music, making the
text accessible to a large and diverse audience. A Journey of Spirit
explores the tremendous power this artist and leader has to promote
spirituality, healing, and community.
This 75-minute documentary explores the transformation of liberal Jewish
worship, the growth of the new profession of Jewish singer/songwriter, and
humanity’s need for healing. Viewers are treated to a lively and heartfelt
exchange as A Journey of Spirit places the debate about contemporary versus
traditional prayer music squarely on the table.

I have called and left a message at Ann Coppel Productions and I am
awaiting a response.
I have not found any venue through which to purchase this DVD.
Can anyone on this list help me with finding this?
 Thank you in advance.
