[ha-Safran] Children's book list
Hi Heidi, Thanks so much for this awesome list. I am a little concerned however that the latest publication date found for only a few of the books was 2004 - most published well before that. That is not to say that the books on the list are not still very relevant, only that many more Jewish children's books have been published in the last 15 years that would fit into these categories. I would be happy to work with anyone else who would like to update this wonderful list. I am a volunteer librarian at Temple Israel of New Rochelle which is a Reform congregation so I do not have access to many of the more religious publications but I do try to keep up with most current Jewish offerings. Please let me know how I can help. Re: [ha-Safran] Recommendation needed: free library software
Hi Micah and Shira, I use Surpass in my library but our patrons are able to log on to our catalog on their phone or computer by using a new account I created through LibraryThing called TinyCat. The TinyCat feature is more like a library data-base and more library friendly for patrons than the original LibraryThing which is used by me for data entry. Here is a link to our library account so you can see how it works. Temple members can see the new books as they are accessioned, find my reviews, and actually reserve a book through this link. https://www.librarycat.org/lib/HandelmanLibraryTINR Hope this helps. The kids all seem to love everything by Judy Blume and I have had some requests for Paula Danziger books. I know she is a Jewish writer but I don't know if any of her books have any Jewish content. If you know of any other great titles - aside from Judy Blume and Sydney Taylor please let me know. Re: [ha-Safran] automation systems for small libraries
Hi, I started using Surpass CL about 2 years ago and cannot be happier. Their support team is incredible and they are constantly updating their system (at no additional cost) with suggestions from their subscribers. We want to automate. I need a system that provides training and support when technical issues arise. I have been looking into ResourceMate. Can anyone tell me about their experience with it? Can you recommend another system and a general idea of the cost? I have used Marcive for catalog cards and printed labels and barcodes. They provide the same service for automated systems. Has Marcive worked for you? Is there any other system that you can suggest? Thanks.
