Re: [ha-Safran] 2024 Fanny Goldstein Award

Nobody could be more deserving of this prestigious award than Gail Shirazi.
The energy, dedication, time and commitment that she puts forth as a Judaica
librarian cannot be matched. In addition, her creativity and vision by
planning programs, networking, and reaching out to the public serves as a role
model for other librarians. She brings a visionary aspect to Judaica
librarianship which keeps the field of librarianship current and vital in this
present time. Librarianship is not static, and Gail exemplifies a librarian
with vision and foresight.
On behalf of the Capital Area Chapter of the Association of Jewish Libraries, I
wish Gail many more years ahead as she continues to make contributions to
Capital Area Chapter and other institutions. May she continue to be energetic
and healthy. May Gail and her entire family be blessed with shalom.

2024-04-28 Thread Elliot H. Gertel via Hasafran
Dear Gail,

Mazel-tov, *kol ha-kavod,* and *yasher-koyekh* on being selected the 2024
Fanny Goldstein Merit Award recipient. As stated in the message below by
2024 FGMA Chair and 2023 FGMA recipient, Rachel Leket-Mor, you are a most
worthy winner of this award. Your many years of contributions to, and hard
work in, AJL and to promote Judaica and general librarianship, Judaica in
general and, of course, to your longtime institution, LC, are admirable.
In recent years, of particular note, is your hard work on the AJL
Conference Support Committee, along with Lenore Bell.

It's been a pleasure knowing you during the three and a half decades of our
membership in AJL. I still recall meeting you at my first AJL annual
conference more than 30 years ago—hard to believe all that time has
passed!—and look forward to seeing you again in San Diego in June.

Congratulations and best wishes always,
Elliot
