Dear Safranim,
Some of you contacted me about Library card applications at NYPL in
connection with the new LibGuide.
The Library's website is somewhat confusing and it's in the process of
being revised.
Please note:
1) Even if you do not live, work, attend school, or pay property taxes in
NYS, you can still get a Library card as a visitor, albeit for a shorter
duration.
2) The workaround for out-of-state applicants (for now) is to fill out the
following form: https://www.nypl.org/library-card/new/
<https://www.nypl.org/library-card/new/> (ignore the popup at the top
and/or any messages saying your application could not be processed) and
email dorotjew...@nypl.org .
Please also feel free to email me directly at amandasei...@nypl.org
3) More information and an updated application will be posted on the
website in a few weeks, but for now this is how to do it.
We appreciate your patience.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Best wishes,
Amanda

Dear Colleagues,

I'm pleased to present a new LibGuide, compiled by Dr. Lyudmila Sholokhova
(Curator of Dorot) and myself:

Electronic Resources on Jewish Studies at the Dorot Jewish Division
<https://libguides.nypl.org/eresources-dorot-nypl>
with a wealth of databases, digitized journals and newspapers, ebooks and
other online resources, customized for Jewish Studies research.

Please check it out!

And speaking of checking things out, get your free Library card
<https://www.nypl.org/library-card/new/> and email us at
dorotjew...@nypl.org today to complete your registration and fully utilize
these resources. Please encourage your students, colleagues, family and
friends to do the same.

Best wishes,

Amanda
